Nightmare Before Christmas was really ahead of its time, with the bold choice to center the unchecked entitlement of a privileged male at the central problem in the story.

What this chart is telling me is that none of the current LLMs are as powerful as the Magic 8 Ball. It's just science.

Considering a new food review / ratings scheme: add pistachios to any food. 5 stars for a great pairing. 4 stars, did not detract from the pistachios. 2 stars, the pistachios would have been better on their own. Tonight’s store-bought chocolate mousse thingy: 4 stars.

We need trucks that drive around residential neighborhoods, playing iconic music to attract their customers, that scoop up a dish to-order with customizable toppings. Congee trucks, obviously.

I saw a poster for the upcoming movie Whalefall, and I got all excited for a super cool nature documentary. Turns out it’s just a fictional thriller with actors, bleh. So anyway, if anyone has influence with someone who is capable of making the Whalefall nature documentary, I’d watch it.

And now we begin the gauntlet of fall kids activities, school, etc. The meal-planning logistics alone are a tactical challenge that will require maestro-level execution. Hope we can fake it!

Hey, remember that time that I decided that leaving a lucrative career as a software engineer to be a ski instructor was a rational idea, because an active job in natural outdoor light would eliminate so many migraine triggers from my daily life? Those were good times.

Decades before Dolly Parton helped fund research supporting Moderna's Covid-19 mRNA vaccine, she raised money for people with HIV and AIDS and joined the 90s "Break the Silence" campaign promoting AIDS awareness, sex education & condom use - at a time when doing so in country music took courage.

Bought a cute shirt with an owl print on it at the local arts festival. I told the artist that to many Native people, the owl is a potential harbinger of death. She said, "I always saw them as a good omen." I smiled and said, "They can be. Someone shitty could die!" She looked horrified.

There have been a handful of moments in my time managing people where I am awestruck by the lack of workplace trauma that has settled into the people who have been working for me for pretty much the entirety of their burgeoning careers. I am at least doing a few things right. Sometimes.

Retailers should rebrand their furniture assembly fees as quantifiable amounts of recycling that you don’t have to deal with. I like assembling the furniture. Might have paid money to not deal with the cardboard, though.
Recycling bin filled with carefully arranged bits of cardboard, tetris-style, from a single online order of a small desk.
