People complaining that the new suit has no ass clearly never saw the original fusion suit.

Despite burnout, I am now officially coloring the next comic <3 Strict deadlines, so there'll be next to no other art for a while.

Style study 3/4 - Mike Mignola From all the studies, I probably learned the most from this one, and Mignola's use of heavy black shadows and simple shapes was a delight to try out. More thoughts in alt text!

I really enjoyed working on this one. I admit that Mignola is an artist that like.. I have been aware of for a long time, but until this I never really looked at the larger body of his work. I especially love the heavy use of black in this style (I read Frazetta was a big inspiration for him and it shows lmao). With my piece, I really enjoy how I stylized Ire's hair and axe. There was almost a therapeutic simplicity to working in this style, similarly to the Tartakovsky one. Fantastic shapes.
Colour was a slightly trickier element for this, but I think I ended up with a fairly Mignola-ish palette. Speaking of colour, or lack thereof, I've been meaning to develop my black & white art more, and studying Mignola's work feels like it'll give me some good insight for that!

IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
Character: Ire (OC, he/him)
#Artsky #QueerArt #DarkFantasy #SwordAndSorcery

Digital drawing done in the style of Mike Mignola (Hellboy). It features a heavy use of flat black shadows, placing Ire into what seems like a cave tunnel. He appears to be walking through a rough, rocky terrain. The piece has a black, red, green and orange palette.
Ire is holding his green axe in his right hand. The right arm is entirely blacked out, only highlighting three red scars, but the part of the axe that reaches into the shadow of the background is silhouetted in bright green.
Ire is wearing a green tank top and a red loin cloth fastened by a studded belt. His hair is long and black, with thick strands looking almost like tendrils. His body is white, while his face is brown with red and black markings. Two small black horns extend from his head.

At some point, this was the cover for a PDF with a bunch of sketches and other drawings I made in 2021 and 2022. I'll drop some of them under this one. #art #artpost

[English/Galician]

[En] A Frazetta homage: A cartoony barbarian with long blonde hair raises an ink-dripping brush in the air with his left hand while holding a pencil in the other one. Two anthropomorphised notebooks hug his legs. Behind him lay dead a bunch of his fallen enemies (a broken computer, a pencil, another notebook…). Lightning strikes in the background, outlining in a cold blue light a predominantly warm and pink scene.
[Gal] Unha homenaxe a Frazetta: Un bárbaro de debuxos animados, co pelo louro e longo, ergue un pincel empapado en tinta coa man esquerda mentres suxeita un lapis coa outra. Dous cadernos antropomórficos abrazan as súas pernas. Detrás del xacen abatidos un feixe dos seus inimigos (un ordenador roto, un lapis, outro caderno...). Un lóstrego cae no fondo, contornando nunha luz azul e fría unha escena predominantemente rosa e cálida.

This is a multimedia piece I've been wanting to do for months, character is painted in acrylics on a digital photo manipulation printed background. Also, it's been a while since my monthly experiments had a more playful tone!
