We all have amnesia. Anything before 3 or 4 (accounts of us, how we got here, what we were like, where it all began) escapes hindsight. We outsourced memory-making to our parents. Insofar as identity involves a certain continuity, parents dying means part of oneself dying.

I made a video chronicling and celebrating my mom's life. We played it at her funeral. I hope it expresses how much she meant to so many people. drive.google.com/file/d/1tyht...

Am I the only one who thought "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" was criticizing the manosphere anti-social faux stoicism self-help stuff? Punisher’s monologue felt like a deconstruction of the Andrew Tate archetype, which Peter was “cosplaying” with protein powder and self-isolation.

One year ago I saw Fantastic Four with friends and I loved it so much I’ve sent a Fantastic Four meme to them every day since. We celebrated the milestone by watching it on our projector. I decorated and cosplayed. Kelly baked cupcakes. Fantastic friends, fantastic celebration.

My favorite Christopher Nolan movie is the one about a violent traumatized loner pursuing an all-consuming mission of vengeance with the help of his femme fatale lover and police officer buddy. I speak, of course, of Memento.

I've been rewatching Lost lately, and one thing I love about its (absolutely unhinged batshit insane) approach to structure is that the cumulative effect is to make it feel like time is happening all at once.

Kelly painted this beautiful portrait of our late Ayn. I asked her about the blue, to which she said she needed a solid color against which Ayn would stand out. But I think it says so much, because it makes Ayn look like some wise ethereal being forever frozen in blue amber.

Just months after finishing radiation, my mom has cancer again, for the ninth time. Ahead lies thousands in bills and months of recovery. We appreciate any and all support, from wishes to cards to donations. Thank you all so much. She's going to beat this again. GoFundMe below🔽

One of the best matches I've seen live. They brought out the best in each other, exploited the well-built unpredictably of the finish, and injected real narrative stakes into some overdone spots (e.g. kicking out at one). We didn't leave our feet for that whole closing stretch.

How The Matrix universalized a trans experience — and helped me accept my own
The film, now 20 years old, is probably the most famous art ever made by trans people. But its cultural legacy doesn’t end there.

I stumbled across this photo for the first time recently and realized that's the back of *my* head. I love it because I think it captures our relationship well. This was one of a few live AMAs I ran with Steve, and probably my favorite because it also featured Sarah.

On the phone just now with the vet while my mom keeps calling. I text her and she says to call her back. Vet tells me my cat has cancer. I call my mom back. She tells me she has cancer. Probably the most surreal experience of my life.

And I know many feel *right now* that they have no reason to be anonymous but 1) your circumstances shouldn't determine what others are free to do anyway and 2) your circumstances might change! A lot can happen to a person in the course of years or even hours. You might want that freedom someday.

You should be able to criticize your government anonymously. And research medical issues. And discuss your sexuality. Or maybe even talk about an abusive partner or family. People have very good reasons to separate their speech from their identity and owe you no explanation or justification.

Very frustrating how earnestly people seem to buy into the idea that forcing people to post under real names would fix anything. It wouldn't, and you'd be giving an immense gift to authoritarians as well as punishing people who have good reason—which may be none of your damn business—to post anon.

Kelly and I got to meet Rey Mysterio the other day. I asked him who his dream opponent was and he said Randy Savage or Bret Hart. I told him I once asked Bret the same question and his answer was Rey! We exchanged some words about how great that match would've been. Lovely guy.

We live in increasingly epistemically challenging times and the allure of conspiracy theory has never been greater. But doesn’t convergence play just as much, if not more, of a role in social life? I explore these issues and more in my latest essay. isonomiaquarterly.com/.../2025/11/...

Over at the old place, @corymassimino.bsky.social opined: "Libertarianism, as a movement, became untethered from its actual history of ideas. It traded philosophers and economists for influencers and comedians." Kinda true? But maybe it goes deeper/happened sooner than "influencers" suggests. 🧵
