One part of the house is 17th century, it was extended in 18th I think. The tiles were laid in my great-grandmother's time if I remember rightly, but yes, they could have been bought somewhere and brought here . . .

I'm thinking of starting a series of posts called 'Random Stuff we have in our House' . . . My family have lived in this house for 5 generations now, which means that we have a lot of strange stuff, like these cannon balls. No clue if they were found on the farm or came from somewhere else . . .

Tantalising glimpses of Cornwall’s forgotten history can often be found preserved in the names given to villages, roads, woodlands, tors and rivers. The Cornish translation can offer clues, a remembrance of a historical figure or subtle signpost to past events. cornishbirdblog.com/maen-cadoar-...

A windswept Stripple stones, in low light, on an Archaeoastronomy walk. (Folklore + tales told by @cornishbirdblog.com ) Rough Tor on the left on the horizon, Bronn Wennili (Brown Willy) on the right. Do the tops of these stones echo the high peaks in the background? #Cornwall #StandingStoneSunday
A black and white scene containing two rectangular menhirs poking out of the marsh grass. The sliding incline of the top left mimics the rolling peak of a hill above it on the horizon and right hand one has a slight bobble on the top and a far flatter profile echoing the other peak on the horizon .

Blurry pic of part of the Trippet Stone circle. Taken last night in low light/high winds while on a dark skies walk with @cornishbirdblog.com and Carolyn Kennett. Sadly no stars, but we safely completed the walk from here to the Stripple Stones #StandingStoneSunday #StormDave #Cornwall
One fallen stone in the foreground and two standing which are some of the remaining standing stones of the Trippet stone circle on Bodmin Moor near Blisland. We caught the edge of Storm Dave which caused very high winds - I couldn't keep the camera still so the picture is blurry from that and using night settings.
