"There are nearly 26,000 students at Cornell but just 3 full-time investigators...~ 2,860 people are sexually assaulted each year. That time I put almost all the chipmunk species in the western USA on one map. Did you know there’s 1 species of chipmunk in Asia, 1 in eastern USA & >20 in western USA? (I’m not the crazy one here. The chipmunks are the crazy ones.)

…with how different my life had been from my classmates’. I’d go home with non Native friends for holidays and struggle to understand how we’d grown up in the same country but lived in completely different realities. My therapist was a Native woman and she was very patient with my complex feelings.

Senate votes 77-22 to pass Protect College Sports Act. No advocates for student athletes were involved in this act. Management wins, elite players will get NIL + hidden payments like the old days. Add to why I remain cynical about post-Nov. DNC leaders fixing the structural issues were are facing.

Cool study/thread. I dont feel like "nature out of balance" has been a dominant conversation Ive had w/ ecologists or evol biologists this century. I've seen it used by some conservation orgs who promote/sell "pristine" natural areas as places w/o indigenous people.

Ive been saying for a while now, that the fear and disgust of disability and aging and death is driving the technofascists' apocalyptical thinking, in addition to their extreme eugenicist thinking. They truly believe they and they alone deserve to survive and thrive in this world.
Thiel’s philosophical assumptions might sound bizarre to outsiders, but they appear to be widely shared among the tech elite. “A.I. and its capabilities represent something analogous to the Second Coming,” Jeremy Nixon, a founder of an A.I. hub called A.G.I. House, said in May. The technology, some tech titans believe, will allow humans — at least some humans — to escape the bounds of earth and even perhaps the inevitability of death. It represents liberation from hopelessness and decay.
