I wrote something that is a rambling, word vomit of thoughts. At the heart of the rambling is the procedural and conceptual knowledge conversation happening in the world of math. If you have critiques or suggested readings - please send my way!! open.substack.com/pub/coreypel...

I am soliciting input for a project I am thinking of starting. If you have any resources (e.g., books, chapters, articles, websites, etc) that you have found helpful in building your knowledge about single case research designs, do you mind sharing with me? Thanks!!

Does anyone have a coding manual they have used for instruments/measures? Or perhaps a published systematic review of instruments they can send my way so I can see how they approached coding? Thanks!

It's here! The newest issue of @edpsychjournal.bsky.social asks: why aren't you including students with disabilities in your research? Then, an amazing group of scholars demonstrate how and why they DO. I want to highlight a few aspects of the special issue in particular:

It should read that the 89th percentile rank can be interpreted as “Scored AT OR above 89%…” Also, it is a me thing saying “peers” here is misleading because it is the norm sample that the distribution is representing but that is me being too nit picky

How are you going to be a company making this much money on educational assessments and then provide an inaccurate (albeit not that serious) interpretation of percentile ranks?
Displays graph for MAP growth assessment. Figure note states overall score was a 186 on a range of 100-250. Your child is in the 89th percentile, which means they are better than 89% of their peers.

💯 That’s one of my critiques of people who claim “kids bring no prior/background knowledge” to new math concepts because that is untrue :) It’s our job to prime the requisite preskills that would be supportive of the new learning!
