I LOVE Thunderbolts! I thought it was a really solid cast and pretty great movie. I'm actually kind of bummed they dropped the Thunderbolts branding because that's way better. I also REALLY dig the Fantastic Four movie. Big fan of the team and I like that they lean in on the pulp side.

Really sucks because he and Harrison Ford's Ross both feel wasted with a script that gives them nothing to work with. What's almost worse than wasting great characters and actors in something so atrocious as 'Love and Thunder' is dumping them in something as forgettable as 'Brand New World'

One morbid side effect of having a bunch of friends die this year is my first thought looking at a nice picture my mom took of me is “oh nice, I hope they use this at the funeral”

I was just remembering my Russian professor called me дурак (Durak), meaning "Fool". Her brother visited from St. Petersburg and when I gave him a tour he said "You should know, it's a term of endearment. She called me that growing up." "Aw, so she likes me?" "She is still calling you an idiot."

Also fun fact with this monologue, the first half is the "Now is our winter" monologue from the start of Richard III but halfway through it seamlessly splices in the fantastic monologue from Henry VI -- a great writing in an otherwise mediocre play liberated here.

Was talking Shakespeare with folks and it always turns into a rant about how much I love Richard III. Love all the plays with nuanced characters and moral complexity, but it's just so goddamn fun watching medieval Skeletor scheme and backstab his way to power like a cartoon villain.

Now obviously Marc Gargan as Venom is great in the Warren Ellis Thunderbolts series during Dark Reign but that’s not really a Venom-heavy story

Then the first couple chapters are all vignettes in the early part of the main character's life and every one of them ends with him dying (plague, kicked by a horse, etc) with the implication that the demon intervened to keep him alive for his long-term plans.

Very cool conceit at the start of a Warhammer book I'm reading. A demon intervenes to save the life of a Nostradamus-type from the Inquisition to find out more about someone he'll need to use years later as a pawn (the main character)...

I'm thinking back to Alexandria's push a few years ago to address gaps in sidewalks around the city and the pushback that got from people. I remember interviewing people for the Polk Avenue one and saying to them "are you guys serious?"

I know this is going to sound very DC elitist but it's insane looking at streets like this, with a neighborhood on one side of the road, and a public park and library on the other, and there's not a single sidewalk or streetlight anywhere in sight. Absolutely insane.

Reading James Baldwin and this passage was so moving
For this is your home, my friend, do not be driven from it; great men have done great things here, and will again, and we can make America what America must become. It will be hard, James, but you come from sturdy, peasant stock, men who picked cotton and dammed rivers and built railroads, and, in the teeth of the most terrifying odds, achieved an unassailable and monumental dignity.

My dad got Morrowind for free in a PC gaming magazine and had no interest in it so he let me have it. Changed my whole world. I'm still amazed looking back I was able to handle the archaic mechanics as a little kid, but I absolutely adored it and it shaped my interest in both gaming and fantasy.

Just remembering that Star Trek Discovery has the brass-fucking-balls to name an episode 'Unification III' as a follow-up to the classic Next Generation two-parter. In NO way earned that shit but you kind of have to admire the unmitigated gall. It's like if I put out 'Les Misérables 2'

All things considered Skyrim is a relatively tame M-rated game. There's no nudity. The violence isn't over-the-top IMO. It's not particularly vulgar in any way, I'd definitely trust it to a teen. Morrowind, on the other hand, has a strip-club in the game I discovered way too young.

My sister and I played a street racing game called Midnight Club but my mom made us turn off pedestrians so we didn't hit them. My parents were usually in lockstep on stuff but a rare exception was my dad getting me GTA IV in secret and I kind of treasure that memory.

Not to amp myself up but I’m very proud of my Fey Realm city in my D&D campaign. I’m sure these ideas are done elsewhere, but the only way to get there is to be lost and this city is filled with forgotten things like shipwrecks and ancient ruins. Occasionally it rains socks.

To be honest, I think the LNN one fell off because it was a passing fancy for the higher up, it was an extra job for me (which I didn't mind, tbh, but I was juggling a bunch of stuff) and for colleagues dragged on it was more of an annoyance. I don't see any of those same problems here.
