Was talking Shakespeare with folks and it always turns into a rant about how much I love Richard III. Love all the plays with nuanced characters and moral complexity, but it's just so goddamn fun watching medieval Skeletor scheme and backstab his way to power like a cartoon villain.

Playing a Warlock in Diablo IV and I love fantasy stuff where people are like "the other idiots tried to bind a demon and it killed them. Fools. Not me though, it'll work for me" [Found on corpse of warlock]

Reading James Baldwin and this passage was so moving

For this is your home, my friend, do not be driven from it; great men have done great things here, and will again, and we can make America what America must become. It will be hard, James, but you come from sturdy, peasant stock, men who picked cotton and dammed rivers and built railroads, and, in the teeth of the most terrifying odds, achieved an unassailable and monumental dignity.

Dragon Age Inquisition gets a lot of shit but the mission where you have to charm your way through a ball, fight assassins in the gardens, and decide the fate of a kingdom is peak RPG and my arc in any Dragon Age game. More fantasy games need ballroom sequences

I'm digging Lanterns but always think making John Stewart military instead of focusing on him as an architect is always a bummer because the architect informs his cool, unique way of building constructs and makes him more distinct from all the other military characters (like Hal)

There was a modded spell in Skyrim where you could cast a rune negating fall damage if you hit that spot. Some challenge because the range was relatively close so if you jumped off a height you had to time it right. Think about it every time I play a game without anything like that.

The context behind the scene at the start is one of the funniest I've ever read in a fantasy book. Thanquol is introduced as a mastermind pulling the strings in the second book, sparring from the shadows. In the 10TH book he confronts his arch-rivals face-to-face and this happens

Gotrek and Felix have no idea who Thanquol is (in the book Elfslayer)

The comics subreddit brought up characters with consistently high quality and I think the best answer for that is easily Thor. If you skip the 90s, you've got five decades of 10/10 runs from his start with Lee and Kirby, then Simonson, Straczynski, Aaron, Cates and Ewing

At the Knight of the Laughing Tree story in Storm of Swords and knowing the context about Lyanna and Rhaegar from the show makes this hit like a truck

“And the Mystery knight should win the tourney, defeating every challenger, and name the wolf maid the queen of love and beauty."

"She was," Said Meera, "but that's a sadder story."
