A British-Thai cryptocurrency billionaire who is Reform UK’s biggest donor has registered to vote in Britain in a move that the party hopes will pave the way for him to give more money.

Christopher Harborne, 63, gave Nigel Farage, the party’s leader, a gift of £5 million shortly before he became an MP in 2024.

Farage is facing an investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner over whether the gift broke the rules, which states new MPs must declare any registrable benefits received in the year before they were elected.

Harborne faces being barred from giving significant donations to the party after the government announced that it was limiting donations from overseas Britons to £100,000 a year.

He has previously said that the government has no right to stop him from making donations and insisted that “where there’s a will, there’s a way”. He said that his first thought on hearing about the cap on donations was: “Fine, in that case I’ll give even more money.”

Harborne had his name restored to the electoral roll this month, registering his address at a farmhouse in Hampshire.

The money from Harborne and other cryptocurrency billionaires has the potential to transform UK politics.

Harborne was seen last week at a party held by Ben Delo, another cryptocurrency billionaire who had given £4 million to Reform. Delo recently moved back to Britain from Hong Kong in part so he could continue to donate.

Delo’s party at the National Gallery was attended by right-wing political leaders, including Farage and Rupert Lowe, the leader of Restore Britain.

Lowe used to be a Reform MP before his bitter row with Farage. A Reform source said: “We are delighted to have Christopher’s support and even happier he’s come home. Reform is already attracting more tax-paying billionaires back to the UK than Labour could dream of.”

At what point will Farage be held to account for his corruption, his racism, his treason, the damage he’s already done to our country or the threat he poses to its future? What the hell does it take to properly scrutinise this raging liability?

It is obscene to suggest that white people have faced the type of hatred and prejudice from law enforcement as ethnic minorities have. They have never been treated by the police as African Americans have in the US. They have never been treated the way that young Black and Asian kids have been in the UK. It is an affront to historical memory and common sense to even pretend there has been equality of treatment.

Then, in the evening, Farage's little army came out.

Many were violent white nationalists, pumped up with hatred. And that is not a coincidence. It is because, with his speech Nigel Farage encouraged rage, hatred and white nationalism.

They threw projectiles at the police. They chanted:
"Racist police, off our streets." They held up placards with slogans like "Henry's blood is on your hands". They were addressed by the racist thug Tommy Robinson, who helped whip them up further.

$MELTING TICE RICHARD TICE, Reform UK's deputy leader and spokesman on energy and climate, made an extraordinary appearance on Bloomberg's Zero podcast last week. A few things soon became clear: firstly, he hasn't read the science. Tice claims the UK. is "almost unilaterally" beggaring itself by choosing low-carbon power (tell that to China, building hundreds of gigawatts of solar and wind each year). He hasn't read the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) summary for policymakers. He says "thousands" of scientists disagree with accepted climate science but wouldn't - couldn't? - name any scientists who'd advised him. He thinks net zero will bankrupt Britain (jobs in clean energy are growing faster than much of the rest of the economy). He threatened to walk out twice - once when presented with the IPCC's summary. When asked about batteries, which store solar and wind power safely and cheaply until the evening peak, he said: "We don't need batteries. It's ridiculous." Reform UK has the most extreme policy on energy and climate the UK has seen since modern science on the subject began. The party opposes solar; it opposes wind; it opposes batteries, for God's sake. Its policy is "drill, drill, frack Lincolnshire". Once again: Reform is largely funded by fossil fuels. The main defence Tice wielded was that the IPC recently abandoned its always implausible "RCP8.5" scenario - the worst-case, which predicted coal use doubling or tripling this century. I'm German. I grew up without children's rhymes, folk songs, traditions, because they were hijacked by fascists. They took my country's culture & used it to rally people behind them, redefined flags & symbols of home to serve their cult. Nationalists stole my heritage. Don't let them steal yours.
