For the first time in 25+ years I am a medium. Took a health scare, but the journey was worth it. 20 so far with another 15-20 to go. Simple habits: 10-min walk at wakeup and after meals, food in 5-8 hour windows, protein first when eating, no sodium added, no processed foods, no sugary things.

so when you have to go low sodium who'd have though that uncooked frozen shrimp are sodium bombs due to the added sodium?

My youngest son, who technically has the ideal education (honours degrees in biz and comp. sci.) in an "AI for All' world finally got a job - 14 months after graduation. So tell me again how AI is going to make things better "for all". Of course I am happy for him, but I lament for the young.

Happy Canada Day to my Canadian followers 🇨🇦 Our country is an ongoing work in progress, but it is still regarded around the world as a beacon of respect, fairness, justice and civility. There are some who consider those attributes to be signs of weakness. On the contrary: they define who we are.

Are we "human doings" or "human beings"? Seems more of the former than the latter. When was the last time you slowed down to just "be"? I struggle with that part but am working in changing it (I hope). (phrase is from "The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything" by James Martin)

Starting a business before the structure is clear can get messy fast. Personal and business money mix. Roles stay informal. Records fall behind. Incorporation feels like the answer, but the real issue is knowing what setup fits the stage you are in. Start with the foundation, not the logo.
Promotional graphic for Built to Thrive, a Canadian small business guidance website. Large headline reads Built to Thrive and Start where your business needs attention now. The image highlights four domains: Formation & Structure, Tax & Financial Discipline, Operations & Systems, and Strategy & Transition. A Start Here button appears below, along with references to guides, explainers, and tools. On the right, a laptop displays the Built to Thrive website. The design uses red, navy, white, and gold accents with subtle Canadian imagery and the URL Built2Thrive.ca at the bottom.

The issue with fossil fuels beyond it’s killing the planet and us as well, is that it’s killing the economy too as it’s being supported instead of its long overdue replacement. This is a zero-sum game being played by governments across Canada and elsewhere

An anti-scam checklist I put together - might be useful for yourself or someone you know. It's getting harder to decipher what's real and what is not. Have an MS Word and PDF versions if you'd like
Poster titled “Family Anti-Scam Checklist” with the subtitle “Pause. Verify. Then act.” The top section is a two-column table labeled “Situation” and “What to do.” It lists common scam scenarios and responses, such as pausing when messages are urgent or emotional, not responding immediately to requests for money or personal information, slowing down if a message says “act now,” hanging up and calling a family member back directly, using known phone numbers or websites instead of links, not trusting familiar-sounding voices or realistic videos automatically, and checking with another family member if unsure.

Below are three side-by-side sections.
The first lists “Never send on demand” items such as money, gift cards, passwords, login codes, banking information, and ID details, along with family rules like a two-person check before sending money, calling back using trusted numbers, not making decisions from one message or call, and encouraging family members to ask if something might be fake.
The second section covers “Before sharing online” guidance—do not share content from unknown or untrusted sources, or information that cannot be confirmed—and lists common red flags such as messages asking to keep secrets, urgent pleas for help, account lock notices, missed payment alerts, government notices, requests to click links, or requests to send a verification code.
The third section includes guidance for kids and teens (avoid sharing live location or travel plans, ignore strange messages, tell an adult if something feels wrong) and older adults (stop if unsure, do not pay under pressure, verify official callers, and call family if something feels wrong).

The bottom portion includes blank fields for Family Setup (safe word, emergency callback person, second checker before sending money) and Trusted Numbers (family, school, bank, doctor, local government). The poster ends with a reminder: “When in doubt: Pause. Verify. Then act.”
