I don't often step outside my liking for plain 'builder's tea' - strong, with milk, 2 not sugars - but I treated myself to a mixed pack of Twinings chai teabags. Vanilla was nice, quite relaxing, but today was Gingerbread Spice. Good lord. That is just delicious. Steeped for a good 5 minutes mind!

I have been making a low carb flat 'bread'. Those of you with working endocrine systems, look away now. It's essentially grated mozzarella + egg + yoghurt + flavourings. Weird? It works for me. Today I'm using curd cheese, tahini, rose + orange blossom water. It smells divine. Time to bake!

Dinner inspired by Samin Nosrat's dinner. A BLT salad: lettuce, parsley, celery leaves & tomatoes all from my late blooming garden. Dressing: spring onions sautéed in bacon fat, with garlic, basil, paprika, tomato and lots of lemon. Crunchy onions courtesy of the corner shop.

I have invested in a new keyboard. I'm a little concerned it's too loud for home but the keyboard action is lovely and the stands bring it to the correct height. Plus, it's gorgeous and feels like it came from Space:1999.

A colleague just went to Berlin. She couldn't find 'proper tea' anywhere. They searched for 3 days. Even our Berlin office only had fruit or herbal. Is this a German thing? @yorkshiretea.bsky.social can you do a push to the German market? We have resolved to never leave home un-Tea'd.

Where we live, the soil is clay based. It is hardy, and heavy. This is what happens when you put it in a skip. I admit, I am not sure how that happened, but it is rather impressive, even if it does remind me of Ben Grimm/Thing from the Fantastic 4 comics.

They are sort of local ish. They walk down from the big parks, along the A12 and across the residential streets, and then forage in all the gardens.

Made a version of this link at the weekend. Chopped dried apricots made it even better. (I didn't do the vegan topping as I had eggs to use up but the base is delicious!) I like that you can adjust the recipe as well. I made mine in a 4" x 4" pan. Just right. veganmealprepsunday.com/vegan-bobotie/

This is mushroom and tahini soup. Except it's not very soupy. Leeks, spring onions, lettuce, parsley, mushrooms, brown rice, tahini, fresh lemon. Mint oil to serve. A cream soup with zero dairy!

I finally hit 10,000 daily steps yesterday. It's not that easy for me but I do try. I went from zero walking unless absolutely necessary to ALWAYS walking to the high street if I go, and walking back too if the weather holds. I visited all 3 local parks on Sunday as well.

Adventures with phyllo pastry. (Yes, that's how I spell it, shush.) This is bougatsa, pastry filled with a semolina vanilla orange custard. I added sharp homemade apricot jam too because it needed using. They leaked a bit but who cares? They smell AMAZING.
