There are a lot of problems with AI, and many of those can in theory "be fixed". But what can't be fixed is that ultimately: it's a machine that reproduces history. It can only ever propagate the failures of our past. It will lock us into them forever if we aren't careful.

A lot of newbie tabletop game designers love to hype up how long they've been working on their game, and the issue is.... To people in the industry "I've been working on this for 15 years" reads either as "I made duke nukem forever the board game" or "I will never look past my games flaws"

Theres a lot of general discourse in TTRPG reviews around "Can you review a game without playing it". Ultimately, I think you can! But you have to be generous if you do. Because without the context of playing it's hard to tell if the thing that doesn't make sense to you now would if you played.

The Other Me is still probably one of my proudest game design achievements. Creating a playbook that allows for the plural storylines common to the genre and gives it actual respect is something I'm glad to have done.

The thing about homebrewing a TTRPG is that like - that's cool! Awesome! and you should 100% do it. But you should do it while understanding that the existing game design was done that way for a reason, and you might just realize why during play.

This is the funniest reason for a character in a romance game to be non-romanceable

While Girlfailure Art Club features four main heroines, it seems that only three of them – Shoko, Kana, and Rinne – are romanceable. The fourth girl and president of the art club, Yurie, is a diehard Yumejoshi (self-shipper), who pairs herself with the fictional character Tobari Kyoya from the in-game manga Home Problem Hitman Deborn (which are parodies of the character Hibari Kyoya and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! manga series by real author Akira Amano, respectively). Given that you are nowhere near as charismatic as Tobari, Yurie will not respond to your romantic advances.
