It becomes much harder to call out Reform's disinformation at First Minister's Questions when you're spreading your own.

This is maybe a really boring point but I do think Andy Burnham's way of speaking about politics and trade-offs is potentially a seismic shift-change in how British politics operates Totally dependent on his actual actions whether it succeeds, but he is showing it's possible to govern in this way

I know we're not quite in the era of brown envelopes and council decisions being made in dark dingy corners of bars, but giving planning decisions to as few as four people in a not insignficantly small place like Leith (or anywhere else mentioned, tbh) will not end well

All the usual caveats regarding data quality but the significant fall in Scotland's 16-64 employment rate - and concomitant increase in unemployment - over the past year isn't great news. Employment rate now lower, and unemployment rate higher, than the UK

The SNP's response to Andy Burnham's social care proposals is to whine about higher taxes possibly coming the way of Scottish taxpayers to - as they put it - fund "English" care That's forgetting how the Barnett Formula works and is just a big middle finger to voters who want a solution

The constant infantilising of young adults makes me think the only effective corrective is to ban anyone from voting who is five years older (or more) than the average life expectancy and allow votes for 16 and 17 year olds.

Few SLab folk earlier this year were saying this election would have more in common with 2011 for Labour to win it (i.e. coming back from a distance like Salmond did). We are at the highlighted point in the 2011 campaign, by which time the SNP had reversed their polling deficit.

People think I'm joking when I say I think Scottish Labour will try to run a minority government if they finish second. I'm really not, and I think they'll try it even if there is a razor-thin pro-union majority. It'll be chaos, but who doesn't love a bit of that?

Extremely fed up of politicians refusing to admit fault over obviously false statements. It leads directly to how a minister stays on despite blatant misrepresention as the bar is so high for quitting. Total self-destruction of standards in public life over the last decade

The closest bit of polling I've seen which explains why voters are a) pissed off at existing/historic political parties (failure to deal with cost-of-living) and b) moving to Reform (who are owning a high-salient issue on immigration w/explicit link to cost-of-living, i.e. people being "worse off")

The long and short of this YouGov polling is you are going to struggle to win an election by trying to make it a referendum on the incumbent's record, when your own party has no approval for its own - far more salient - record Rightly or wrongly, it's Starmer who is tanking Sarwar, not the SNP.
