You know, if somebody had let me know Pirates get to have pet monkeys I may have taken a different career path

Haven’t shared my current reading in a while. About halfway through this 1975 collection of C.L. Moore’s stories, a woman pioneer of speculative fiction. Great stuff!

Bennie Smith 🔜 MagicFest DC Dec11 @completecmdr.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Absolutely. Every time they do a print to demand it’s such a better experience.

Bennie Smith 🔜 MagicFest DC Dec11 @completecmdr.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

High school Bennie would be furious that I never got any fiction published. Actively working on it now my dude, chill!

Bennie Smith 🔜 MagicFest DC Dec11 @completecmdr.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

I sure hope they reprint these to death so the prices come down!

Bennie Smith 🔜 MagicFest DC Dec11 @completecmdr.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

I’m sure it’s not easy balancing all that. It just feels like there’s not much effort being put in on the card choices

120

Bennie Smith 🔜 MagicFest DC Dec11 @completecmdr.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

The card selections for most Secret Lairs have been really, really lacking for a long time. It’s like the people making these choices don’t grok what the Magic community will be excited about. Even if the art is cool as hell, it’s still a game piece that people should want to put in a deck and PLAY

120

Bennie Smith 🔜 MagicFest DC Dec11 @completecmdr.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Sigh. The only card I’d like is the sweet Maize of Ith that I’d have to spend $200 on cards I don’t want to get 😂

Updated my Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis #CMDR deck, which is the deck I've kept together the longest: nearly TEN years now! Lots of twists & turns in the list over the years, now pretty firmly in the "legends matter" camp with high impact big spells to finish games. archidekt.com/decks/873029...

The Mayan ruins at Chichén Itzá were spectacular, and when I went you could still climb to the top of the pyramid, and the view from up there was breathtaking!

We played it a TON in the beginning, big 6-8 player group games for ante. It was wild. I lost a Mox Pearl in ante, and I won my Diamond Valley in ante.
