We backed him to do this. 18 months on, we are utterly vindicated in that decision. Here, the public gets what it has been crying out for. A Prime Minister no longer tinkering around the edges but committing to actual political, economic and social reform.

Andy Burnham closed out our conference 18 months ago with a speech outlining the wholesale reform Britain needs - electoral reform, the public ownership of water, a national housebuilding programme. We hoped he could give it on the party conference stage sooner rather than later.
