There are many ways you could spend your weekend, I suggest you spend it with my favorite group of Magical Girls. Look I read ALOT of fiction that supposedly understands Japanese literature (if you think manga isn't included there you're wrong) this is the only series I have ever read. Ever.

I am told that the anime skipped over some of her development, so hopefully the manga solves some of these issues. Because she's a really sympathetic character! I just think the anime didn't spend enough time going into her whole deal

Plus there were already, uh, some other hurdles to clear with this character in particular. The series is usually pretty good at sidestepping the whole "Hoo boy this really should be problematic" thing, but Chiyo's... Chiyo-ness already made her a harder sell.

"Gifted kid well on the way to burnout whose perfectionism drives people away", aside from describing my teenage self, is a great concept for a GF. But having her show up and point out everyone's imperfections - in a show that's frequently about embracing your imperfections - certainly was a choice
