iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

now this is a funny thread, but the truth is, it makes a fundamental error. Every romance reader knows that it's Nora Roberts who is gonna take you fucking down. This is a woman you should NEVER mess with.

Also, wow I'm so exhausted from talking about all of this stuff, but! There's a particular pain when it comes to sports and the waving away of harm. It's not just that people say these hurtful things, it's that people literally cheer for these men who have hurt other people. They cheer.

Another moment when sports is useful, when it gets right at the truth of things. People want so damn badly to move on from reports of harm, from having to even think about the harm that men have done to women. Playing well in a game allows that. It's crude, yes, but it's common. ANYTHING to move on.

I think it was more that Jake said he liked all fries and then said no sweet potato fries, but I agree, oven fries are great

It started being about whether you could/should make fries in an oven (Caldwell yes, Emily and Murph not so much), but got most heated when Jake came out as anti-sweet potato fries

- Authoritarians have significant control of this new uh entity - Buy physical media from affected companies now; it is likely that a whole lot of their works will be disappearing soon - Support independent alternatives where artists/writers can publish, broadcast freely - Vote for a Dem congress

Flashbacks to having to sing “Colors of the Wind” in middle school choir

Eric Schmitt: "Did you or did you not fall in love with a Native American woman who could talk to willow trees and paint with all the colors of the wind?"
Jack Smith: "That was John Smith."

This was a emotionally challenging piece for me to write--angering, saddening, and tbh frightening--but I also think it's important There were so many opportunities to save Tierra Walker's life and it's so obvious why her pregnancy ended in death anyway ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

Tierra Walker’s Death Was Preventable. The Conservative Legal Movement Made It Predictable

Republican politicians have made Texas doctors increasingly afraid to provide lifesaving abortion care.

I've been covering the death penalty in depth for a dozen years now, and few nights have been as disturbing and dispiriting as tonight. This was a moral, ethical, and legal failure on several different fronts from many different actors. It wasn't *just* SCOTUS, though they sure were a key part.

lawdork.com

After SCOTUS allowed Tennessee execution to go ahead, Tennessee botched the execution

SCOTUS, over the liberals’ dissent, cleared the way for Tennessee to kill Christa Pike. The alarming order from DC was followed by even more disturbing developments in Tennessee.

Whenever Texas threatens to pull funding from Dallas because Dallas did something progressive, the city cowers and tells residents, "we have to comply or the state will pull funding!" But when Texas pulls funding for Flock cameras, the city can amazingly find a way to keep them running.

DPD and Flock agree to keep state-funding cameras active for a while longer

Dallas currently operates 300 active Flock license plate cameras. Another 320 were set to be unplugged due to state funding cuts but will now remain active for the next 90 days.
