As one UK university after an other goes into “restructuring”, a euphemism for hollowing out by administrators, you never hear the phrase “fiduciary duty”. It is clear that these people see the university primarily as a business that they can leave behind. Lost is the idea that they are […]

@davidjamesweir pick one of the more mature series and work through it. Vimes would be my choice but you can do Witches, Tiffany Aching, Von Lipwig. You can fill in other stuff later.

@feijoa no one has had time for the coffee to soak in yet! Politeness and keeping to yourself are part of the technology we’ve developed to make those places manageable and bearable. Massed ICE engines are really loud in cities though.

@feijoa it’s probably the reduction in ICE engine noise. Makes a big difference.

Coding agents reduce software development to a simple matter of: * specifying requirements * verifying correctness and quality * maintaining and operating software you didn't write As we all know, those have always been the easiest, most well-understood parts of the craft, so everything is fine!

Even if the protagonist of such a tale is poor, they are still secretly from privileged parents, and their story […]

You don’t win an election under proportional representation unless you get to form the executive. FPTP brain is apparently unavoidable even for journalists who live under PR systems. (You can be the largest party but that doesn’t give you power unless you can form a coalition.)
