When Marsha got a bunch of teeth taken out, the vet was a little concerned she didn't eat much at the office. Got her home and she immediately housed half a can of wet food. She's recovered well :)

Some sort of creature. A critter if you will. No one knows what kind. Small, white, big pointy ears and a pink snoot. Resting said snoot comfortable on a pillow.

I know they don't look impressive. But this is really thin wall tubing and I have a very cheap flux core welder. Managing to not just blow clean through the tube every time is a huge step up for me.

A piece of thin walled half inch tube with three to four inches of spotty welds going up the side. They are not pretty.

The same tube after the welds are ground down. It's more or less continuous with a few pin holes. It's just a tent pole, it's fine.

Dealing with long stock means offsetting your jointer like the deck of an aircraft carrier.

A long thin piece of lumber runs off the table of a small 6" jointer. The whole setup is set about 15 degrees to the left to avoid the table saw on one side and mitre saw on the other.
An ancient shopvac sits below, gamely trying to manage the dust.

Went to a model train show with my dad today. Neither of us have ever been. So many layouts, but I found this module really charming.

A dual H-O scale railway with a green Canadian National diesel locomotive hitched up red open top bulk cars. It is modelled as a small inlet with a fishing village. The background board continues the appearance of the rocky shore going out to sea.

Might've started a bit late this year, but we have our first bottles of maple syrup in the fridge.

A boiling pot of maple sap on an electric stove. After boiling off most of the water on a burner outside, I bring it inside to finish.

Two clear swing top bottles filled with golden brown maple syrup. One is full to the shoulder and the other about one third, about 700ml total. The result of boiling nearly 30L of sap.

New mechanic milestone reached. Hail Mary tool modification. It...sort of worked. The important thing is, the check engine light is off again. This car will die when I say it can.

A brown CN branded H-O scale box car is halfway down a white 3d printed rerailer ramp. This helps get the bogies aligned with the tracks.

I didn't take a lot of pictures in Ireland (my partner is better at it lol) but this was a highlight. Muckross Abbey in Killarney park. Just an old stone Abbey that you can walk all over and through. Our local friend brought us here and it took me completely by surprise.

A single old Yew tree stands in the middle of an abandoned cloister. Photo up from ground level through one of the stone arches.

A rectangular stone sarcophagus sits below a carving of a robed figure laying what appears to be a cord over a vase. A child sits at their feet.

An upper room in the abbey. Everything is grey stone. The floor is smooth squares. The walls are irregular and rounded. A large fireplace sits in the centre of the far end of the rectangle, its chimney extending 4 or so meters above the floor. There is no roof. The top of the yew tree in the cloister below hangs over the left wall.

The opposite end of the fireplace room. The yew is on our right now. A simple stone staircase with a modern steel handrail lead up into a square tower that rises another 3 storeys above this upper room. Empty doorways lead out in several other directions in this surprisingly complex ruin.

A perfect golden brown loaf of crusty bread on a cooling rack. It's round and has a domed top with just a few dark toasty spots, for character.

Made brioche yesterday (we have so many eggs) I cannot imagine doing this by hand. I have a stout stand mixer and it still took 45 minutes to fully mix. Damn tasty though, I managed a much tighter crumb this go around

I've gotten pretty good at knocking out these fence braces. Only takes about an hour. But pretty sure my arms will fall off if I try to pound in more than one set a day. T -2 months until sheep. Pray for my shoulders

First boil of the season! The evaporator I bodged out of junk and powered by barn scraps worked great! Moved indoors where it's a little easier to manage the relatively small amount left to boil!
