The next #Embroidery will be a nest full of snow goose eggs, just waiting to be hunted! It’s the second of four door prizes we’ll bring to the BARC Science Fair later this summer. I think I’ll add some wool to make the downy feathers surrounding the eggs.

'Beltsville Agricultural Research Centre', Maryland - I was privately commissioned to memorialise the BARC by a past employee after learning it will be shut down by the USDA after over 100 years of research. They wanted to focus of this aerial embroidery to be the field plots... 1/3 (see thread)

New paper out today co-led by former students Philippe Major and Julien Arsenault. This is the result of a huge field campaign to painstakingly map the carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus storage in (usually) quite small peatlands in a diverse landscape. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/...
Two very dedicated students working in awful conditions to measure peat depth is a fen. It was a hot day and bugs were a pain. Blue sky with some clouds. One student is pulling a metal rod from the peat.

Family secret Santa for the grownups was $20 limit or handmade this year. So I tried my hand at stitching a very tiny necklace. Scarab beetles are definitely harbingers of spring, right? *Especially* if they’re holding flowers??💐
