On April 23, 2026, Arctic sea ice area was 11.54 million km², a record low for the time of year and 1.30 million km² lower than it was on April 23, 2012. JAXA did not update data for Feb 4th last night. This usually means they are 're-calibrating' over the next 7-10 days. Interested to see where things are headed given Arctic Extent is record lowest and Antarctic extent is about 10-11th lowest and dropping places fast
