Yes, I believe it was released in the US under the Final Fantasy Legend name in 1990, but the OST is the same. The Doki Doki effect!

The poor cover artists trying to fit the logo on the spine is who I feel the most for.

Ha, this is why I love this medium...

Unlike the console releases, which had some breaks for stuff I wasn't that familiar with, these are all tough ones going forward! 1. Duck Tales 2. TMNT (NES) 3. Castlevania III 4. Tetris 5. Super Mario Land 6. Final Fight 7. Batman (NES) 8. SaGa 9. River City Ransom 10. Golden Axe

My latest review for @animeuknews.net and it's for "Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylona - Part 1", a title so long I've nearly ran out of characters for this post. Oh well, you'll just have to read the review then!

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Super obvious at the top! Never had a PC Engine but can't deny 4 and 5 retroactively... 1. Mega Man 2 2. Super Mario Bros. 3 3. Blaster Master 4. Ys II 5. Snatcher 6. Ninja Gaiden 7. Double Dragon II 8. Robocop (in honour of the later GameBoy port...) 9. Gradius II 10. Operation Wolf

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Exciting! Unlike the Castlevania and Mega Man marathons I've actually played all the RE games, extensively in the case of most of them, so this will be a different viewing experience for me. Hope you have fun!

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Another year where it's hard to not just pick the obvious ones, they're obvious for a reason! 1. Mega Man 2. Punch-Out! 3. Castlevania II 4. Doki Doki Panic (really for SMB2...) 5. Zelda II 6. Final Fantasy 7. Phantasy Star 8. Shinobi 9. After Burner 10. Metal Gear

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Dang, I missed a couple I didn't think of on my list last week. Still more confident going forward as one of the GVG "oldies" who were around at the time...

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

This was quite the year for iconic soundtracks! 1. Castlevania 2. The Legend of Zelda 3. Gradius 4. Metroid 5. Outrun 6. Alex Kidd in Miracle World 7. Fantasy Zone 8. Dragon Quest 9. Bubble Bobble 10. Wonder Boy A nice mix of undeniable NES classics and Master System games from my childhood.

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Got up to seven, but yeah... still early days for soundtracks! 1. Super Mario Bros. 2. Tetris 3. Excitebike 4. Super Hang On (Arcade) 5. Space Harrier (Arcade) 6. Gyromite 7. Wrecking Crew (It's catchy, don't know if that's good or not though!)

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

That's nearly a Pokemon movie every day for a month though so.... yum-yum? ... I don't know where I was going with that post. Sorry.

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Got the chance to review a screening of Kiki's Delivery Service, and while you might wonder if the internet needs another glowing review of the all-time classic you... are probably right, but it has another one anyway!

032

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

Damn, now Peter "Optimus Prime" Cullen... this has been a crappy week for celebrity deaths, it's rare a celebrity I actually care about or even know about dies, but Dolly Parton, Tim Curry and now Peter Cullen in one week? Crazy.

A good, but not amazing, little slice of Shonen. Always good to have some physical media to review if nothing else!

Jam packed with previews for the Summer (almost entirely not by me, but there is one tucked away there somewhere!)

Just to finish letting everyone know: my Dad passed away two days ago after a long and frankly awful battle with both Cancer and Dementia. This comes just four years after my Mum passed, and that wasn't easy to watch but was a doddle compared to this. I'll survive, but I'll be quieter for a while...

Sad Doctor Who news, but not surprising. Still having some all-time classic Doctors and then slowly fizzling out on Doctors that while the actors were fine the stories they were given were mostly not is a strangely familiar end to the second run of the show...

If you're thinking of dipping your toe or jumping head first into writing, this is a great place to start. It's how I got started and although I don't appear there as frequently as I once did it's still my pleasure every time I get the chance.

020

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 19/04/2026

Excellent, Part 1 of 200 :P (Seriously, hope you enjoy the ride!)

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 12/04/2026

Congrats, I'm a relatively new follower of yours after you appeared in one of @bitnerd.gvg.io 's NSO videos a year or two ago. I have since caught up and watch a new video as soon as it goes out. Top class content, so happy to hear you keeping it up!

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 04/04/2026

So many shows, so ... few I actually watched, but that's why these are group articles! (I enjoyed the two I did though, for the record!)

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 02/04/2026

They're still some of my favourite videos to pop on each week, but if the majority want a break there's no reason to force it.

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 26/03/2026

Amazing news, and available to buy in the UK no less! Consider it pre-ordered :) Congrats!

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 26/03/2026

Another fun volume of Dragon Quest, so long as you like the more simple, 80s JRPG vibe anyway.

021

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 17/03/2026

This was definitely a "harder the more you think" one. 1. SEGA Mega Drive Classics 2. MM Legacy Coll 1 3. Capcom Fighting Coll 2 4. CV: Advanced Coll 5. Marvel vs. Capcom FC:AC 6. Sonic Mega Coll 7. Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle 8. Atari 50 Ann. Coll 9. Street Fighter 30th Ann Coll 10. CV: Dominus Coll

001

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

Pretty crazy news to wake up to! Amazing how the story least likely to have episodes still floating around to find keeps getting episodes found! (compared to others, I know it's been a few decades since the last Masterplan episode discovery...)

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 10/03/2026

A tough one! It was hard to separate personal favourites from icons who should really be on the list, but I think I got a good mix. 1. Samus Aran 2. Jill Valentine 3. Lara Croft 4. Tifa Lockheart 5. Zelda 6. Cammy 7. Terra Branford 8. Mai Shiranui 9. Princess Peach 10. Mitsuru Kirijo

200

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 07/03/2026

Finished Resident Evil 9. Loved every second of it, 7 and 8 were good in their own separate way but 9 felt like the first great new "proper" Resident Evil in ages. Lots of great nods to all 30 years of the series too, which warmed this long-time fan's heart.

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 07/03/2026

Being a fan of the series for all 30 of its years I was happy with the fan service! Grace feeling like original Resi with the classic health system and storage boxes while Leon felt like 4-6 with health bars and the attaché case was the perfect way to celebrate the series as a whole. Loved it.

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 06/03/2026

I'm excited to see if any of my recommendations made the top 10. I doubt it as its such a specific person-thing, but either way looking forward to another great watch tonight.

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 04/03/2026

One of the best things I've experienced as an adult is the freedom of not caring what other people think of the things I like. It's ironic that claiming you dislike something or someone else shouldn't like something because of age is actually a sign of being immature rather than the other way round.

120

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 03/03/2026

This is going to take some thinking! Fun poll as always though.

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 26/02/2026

Horrible to hear of Rob Grant's passing. While Series 7-onwards had the odd hit here and there, Series 1-6 of Red Dwarf were nearly all back-to-back classics and it's safe to assume that was thanks to Mr. Grant, given he left after 6. RIP to an absolute legend.

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 24/02/2026

My list is mostly games I feel people overlook due to other or more recent games in their series/genre. 1. Streets of Rage 2 2. Sonic (MS) 3. RE: Revelations 2 4. MG2: Solid Snake 5. Fire Pro Wres. World 6. Twisted Metal 2 7. Project X Zone 8. Timesplitters 2 9. Super Punch-Out 10. DW Gundam Reborn

I'm looking forward to being depressed about this video...

000

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

When I got the review discs for "Gungrave", an anime based on a "shoot everything" game from the early PS2 era, I assumed I wasn't going to get much in the way of story. Oddly, I was wrong... for about half of the series anyway!

032

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

A fun idea, and the list made things easier! 1. Beat 'Em Ups 2. 2D Fighters 3. Turn-Based RPGs 4. Action RPGs 5. Hack n' Slash 6. Metroidvania 7. 3D Fighters 8. FPS 9. "Combat Sports" (though really just a lifetime of playing wrestling games...) 10. Arena Fighters (just Dragon Ball games really...)

020

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 04/02/2026

Whoops, somehow missed this when it was first posted! Here's mine: 1. Treasure 2. Free Radical 3. LucasArts 4. Hudson Soft 5. Midway 6. Japan Studio 7. Pandemic Studio 8. Westwood Studios 9. Bullfrog Productions 10. Human Entertainment An interesting, if not depressing, list to research...

010

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 02/02/2026

A really fun story to review (so far!) just wish it was easier on the arms 😜

021

ColdCobra84 @coldcobra84.bsky.social · 27/01/2026

Another fun topic. It was quite hard, even when removing FF and DQ! 1. Kingdom Hearts 2. Chrono 3. TWEWY 4. Front Mission 5. Bushido Blade 6. Just Cause 7. Parasite Eve 8. SaGa 9. Star Ocean 10. Bubble Bobble I've not played Xenogears or Vagrant Story, despite knowing them well over the years...
