Just to finish letting everyone know: my Dad passed away two days ago after a long and frankly awful battle with both Cancer and Dementia. This comes just four years after my Mum passed, and that wasn't easy to watch but was a doddle compared to this. I'll survive, but I'll be quieter for a while...

Finished Resident Evil 9. Loved every second of it, 7 and 8 were good in their own separate way but 9 felt like the first great new "proper" Resident Evil in ages. Lots of great nods to all 30 years of the series too, which warmed this long-time fan's heart.

Horrible to hear of Rob Grant's passing. While Series 7-onwards had the odd hit here and there, Series 1-6 of Red Dwarf were nearly all back-to-back classics and it's safe to assume that was thanks to Mr. Grant, given he left after 6. RIP to an absolute legend.

When I got the review discs for "Gungrave", an anime based on a "shoot everything" game from the early PS2 era, I assumed I wasn't going to get much in the way of story. Oddly, I was wrong... for about half of the series anyway!

Just reached the end of Chapter II/start of III on Clair Obscur and I just have to post how blown away I am at the story. Such great imagination and world building that even with the twist I was still with it the whole way. Looking forward to finishing it up, just so I can unwrap it all.

Having a random week off accidentally match the release of #CapcomFightingCollection2 has been rather handy! I've had a great time playing CvSNK2 and Power Stone 2 again without hooking up old consoles. I miss the item creator from Power Stone 2 though...

Sadly I've had to buy a new washing machine after my old one finally gave up, so I can't really justify buying Dynasty Warriors Origins like I was planning to (always loved that series!) but it's given me a chance to dip into the backlog so I've started Xenoblade Chronicles DE! Liking it so far.

Randomly visited my local CEX shop and they weirdly had two games on my "sold as a teen but now want them back" game list in stock. James Pond II for the Mega Drive and "Sol-Feace" for the Mega CD, which if it weren't for the cover I'd have forgotten about it completely...

2024 was a rough year in some ways, my Dad's mental health continues to decline and I missed out on a Manager promotion at work by a single point apparently, but I've still really enjoyed myself. Especially finally getting back into JRPGs after 15-20 years... Now I don't have time to play them! 😩

Well, I knew my #playstationwrap2024 would have either this or P3 Reload as the top game given their lengthy RPG status! The other games were DB Sparking! Zero, the SW Battlefront Collection (mostly offline multiplayer!) and the first Kingdom Hearts collection due to starting the series this year.

Looking back at the newly released games I've managed to play this year, the vast majority either have "Remake", "Reload" or "Rebirth" in the titles, or are re-released compilations of old games. I know I'm 40 now but I didn't think I'd be this hesitant to try new things...
