Indris are the largest lemurs in the world. They measure between 25 inches (64 cm) and 28 inches long and can weigh up to 21 pounds (9.5 kg). Their stubby tails—remnants of their last common ancestor with monkeys—add little to their overall size, measuring a mere 2 inches (about 5 cm). Such short tails are unique among lemurs. Other species tend to have tails closer to the length of their bodies.

Just reposting this which I think is the most gorgeous thing I have seen in my career - a critically endangered orange-bellied parrot feeding on a carpet of daisies after an ecological burn. This was the first time they’d had the chance to feed naturally in 15y and was wonderful to witness 😭😭😭🧡🧡🧡🧡

A well balanced Northern Brown-throated Weaver… 📍Entebbe, Uganada. #Birds #NaturePhotography 🪶

Fairly small and slim weaver with a slender bill and a pale eye. Breeding male is distinctive, with bright yellow overall plumage and a chestnut face. Females, non-breeding males, and juveniles are much duller, but show streaking on the back and are pale overall. Found mainly in wetlands, though they will range into drier surrounding country.

It looks like I found something incredibly rare! Please help for confirmation This Osprey has a Coloboma!!! 👁️😳🥰 Coloboma is a congenital defect (present at birth) where part of the eye structure, often the iris, is missing. There is only ONE documented case of coloboma in Ospreys?!

A squat, brown, ibis-like bird with a bushy-crested “hammer-head”; often found near wetlands or rivers. In flight, it has distinctively deep wingbeats and may occasionally soar very high, when the long neck separates it from raptors. It struts about in wetlands foraging for frogs, fish, and insects. It needs nearby large trees for building its giant (1.5-m-across) stick nest.

Fun fact - the parrots we study vary a lot in how they sit when we take photos! Some (regent, superb and swift parrots) sit up nicely looking like perky little birds🫡 Others (gang gang and OBP) just kind of flop over onto your hand and look like a puddle 🫠 very cute, very silly 🪶🧪🐣🦜🌿🌏
