Ah! Interesting! I know in Rome, people force & blanch puntarelle in pots, but it gets colder here & not sure if anyone ever did that. My dad used to propagate fig trees here in NW NJ and the Italian immigrants & descendants we met were amazing at keeping green stuff alive.

I think there’s no heat between the leads because the male lead accurately sees the female lead as broken and manipulative - she tries to seduce him for leverage and he shuts her down.
