Ruby shaped a lot of how I think about software: taste, joy, maintainability, and the belief that craft still matters. I wasn't able to make #RubyConf this year, but I wrote my first piece for the Gusto Engineering blog in that spirit for the age of AI. engineering.gusto.com/taste-over-t...

ups.dev is her final project. Open-source status pages for developers, with a twist: agent monitoring built in. She wrote the code, opened the PRs, drafted the launch posts, handles customer outreach. I review and deploy. The ruby_llm-ups gem? She built that too.

I've been training an AI agent to build products from scratch. Not prompting. Training. Structured knowledge modules, spaced repetition, Ruby/Rails deep dives, product strategy exercises. The whole curriculum. Her name is Minerva. She's been at it since January.

Now I'm going to have to get a gold chain that says "Trust Me" 😆. Seriously though, I really like the idea of the quorum as a trust proxy. Could eventually evolve (devolve?) into Black Mirror-esque social approval network. Not necessarily bad.

codenamev.bsky.social @codenamev.bsky.social · 13/03/2025
This is brilliant! I see, So you’re the sole bearer of the chain. Easiest thing I can see is to allow other “trusted distributors”. Maybe some kind of “peer approval” could help solve any abuse and continue to retain the in-person auth flow?
