It’s not much but my experiment of using cat litter to air layer a hornbeam actually worked! You can see the first root peaking through the plastic. Wild. 🌱 #gardening #bonsai

I’ve had this beech in my front #garden for 4 years and it’s grown maybe 6”. (I think the heavy clay and dry soil is too much.) Anyone have any tips for digging this out and transforming it into a #bonsai? I’ve worked on a few smaller trees but nothing this size.
