We broadcast the very 1st Spurs podcast way back in 2006! Still going strong right here. Love discussing. Hate arguing.

From what I understand it’s also an almost certainty the owners will be found unfit and will be forced to sell the club. However unlike Chelsea a relegated City with heavy longterm restrictions won’t be a very enticing prospect for buyers.

Just realised when City get deleted and all the points from over the years get redistributed, we’ll be the only team to get points deducted.

“Manchester City proving their point today on the pitch” The point being that cheating gives you a massive advantage.

Yeah I agree, RDZ is desperately trying to shift a narrative and absolutely needs to create a bit of a siege mentality right now.

Yeah I agree. RDZ is desperately trying to shift a narrative and for now a siege mentality is what we need.

I agree I’m slightly downplaying what Shaw did and he could have got a red. But I really hate when players are unfairly antagonised then suffer a punishment for it, and I picked the Maddison Cash example to make that point. Shaw yellow and Benta red was the fair way to settle something like that.

Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 10/10/2026
Imagine Matty Cash does that challenge on Maddison and then Maddison gives him that shove, then Cash headbutts Maddison. You saying you’d think it was fair for Maddison to get a red as well?

Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 10/10/2026
Cool let’s just ignore everything else in the post and just focus on the shove

Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 10/10/2026
Bentancur did a dangerous tackle which could have been a red anyway. Shaw gives him a shove which is a yellow. Bentancur then headbuts him for either a guaranteed second yellow or a deserved straight red. Am really not seeing the great injustice done here…

I suspect in the cold light of day it’s going to look like good refereeing.

Because he didn’t headbutt anyone I reckon

These “pashun” players that get red cards when we most need them…

Could they have found two players that hate Spurs more than Darren Bent and Jamie Redknapp?

What’s happened in golf is probably the best thing to happen in terms of making teams less hesitant to go off and do something else. It’s not as simple as just having all the money apparently.

I agree. The Premier League has spent 8 years going through this in excruciating detail with hundreds of lawyers, knowing well they were going against an actual State with unlimited money, that happens to be entirely important to our economy. This has been carefully considered and is water tight.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope this is the moment football is reclaimed. There is a very insidious narrative emerging that this would be damaging for the PL and its reputational value. I HATE IT. The opposite should be true. When the notion of competition itself is reclaimed and actual sport is back.

Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 02/10/2026
Yes. It’s the watershed moment for football. And it’s a microcosm of the watershed moment the entire world is facing.
020 2
Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 02/10/2026
Yeah it’s just exhibition stuff. But if there no real competition isn’t that the case anyway? If you look at the correlation between club wealth and success in the past 20 years it is almost exact. The league is a rich table. So what is the sport? Again the competition just become exhibition.

Even the habit has been broken by the new stadium (which had to happen by the way, I’m 100% for it). All the old rituals have changed now. I still do it because it’s rooted in family but it won’t be past my generation in the same way. Unless something changes for the better anyway.

The Super League isn’t so much about limitless spending, just spending that doesn’t have be be driven by actual club revenue. I think the idea is all the clubs have a very similar (extremely high) budget in fact. But it’s a closed shop forever. No promotion or demotion.

Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 02/10/2026
But again, I’m leaning towards “so what?”. Football was so much more fun when I was a kid and that’s not rose tints. I see my kids aren’t as invested and why should they be? They don’t have that connection. It’s too expensive. Too commercial . I’m close to being done with this version of the sport.

It’s clear everyone from the governance itself (Infantino) to the best managers and players can be bought. So the people with the most money will ultimately win. They can literally buy the sport. They could move all these clubs and players to the region if they really wanted. The fear is real.

That said, maybe that’s for the best! Maybe football that’s accessible and fun again will be a good thing. Maybe we can enjoy terrestrial TV free games at weekends again. Maybe it won’t all be money ball android nonsense and characters will come back. Maybe I won’t spend my life savings on tickets.

Ok but this also has implications to Newcastle, Villa and maybe a couple of other clubs. PSG. And now Barca are getting dragged into something. If all the big clubs that want to escape regulation and make their own rules set up their own league, that’s where the viewership and money will also go.

I just have a horrible feeling this all ends with a Super League.

Arteta was at City when it happened. He’s complicit.

Every club should do the Poznan celebration (turn their backs to the pitch) while City play until they are expelled. Bonus would also mean not having to watch Spurs.

Can someone explain to me how the cheats being caught and punished is somehow “bad for the profile of the PL”? City have been the biggest club for like 5 minutes. We’ll still have all the real big clubs once they’ve been sent to the Phantom Zone.

You know what would be a really good way for Pep to restore his reputation and prove that he doesn’t need to work at a club that’s financially doped to win things…

For some reason we give him time and space to score them even though he always does it.

I understand it for fouls as it at least helps understand why one is or isn’t given. But who cares what the ref’s view of a goal was?

Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 19/09/2026
Worldies get scored when players aren’t properly marked or closed down. They’re not an excuse. The odd one ok, but when it happens regularly that’s a trend to address.

Anger and patience are not mutually exclusive. I don’t think any Spurs fan has enjoyed the last three performances or felt much positivity, especially those of us who pay thousands of pounds for the privilege. Again, it is the need for patience despite the frustration that I am talking about.
020 2
Cockonball @cockonball.coys.social · 06/09/2026
I’m just not sure why you felt my post was attacking you. If you’re being patient there wasn’t any there was no need to be so defensive.

It’s going to make me sound very much like an old fart, but the impatience that that the modern fan has (as a result of general media whipping up of impatience) is deeply irritating.

Ok I’m still all in on RDZ and fully believe this team will come good. But…if we don’t win the majority of our home games this season I’m not renewing again. Life’s miserable enough without ruining every other weekend at huge expense.

It’s a classic Peter Kay bit that Hobnobs can be repeatedly dunked in tea and hold together which Rich Tea you just get one quick dunk and that’s it.
