Great to spend day 1 of #FestivalofArchaeology at Altcar Rifle range with 22 Mersey & Dee Young archaeologists @yac-cba.bsky.social. Thanks to @coastsinmind.bsky.social for a fantastic session recording the Cold War anti-aircraft positions with scale drawings, photogrammetry & a drone #SkillBuilding

We were shocked and saddened by the sudden death of our friend and colleague Megan Dryland (née Clement) recently. Our deepest sympathies to all her friends and family. Megan was the best of CITiZAN, a warm, enthusiastic, endlessly helpful, brilliant archaeologist. We'll miss you always Meg.

I'm exploring how @coastsinmind.bsky.social can help address the gap between formal evidence systems and the lived realities of those most affected by coastal change. Supported by Coast-R Network. #CoastsInMind #ArchiveToAction #CoastR www.ukcoastalresilience.org/project/arch..

Happy international salt marsh day! Salt marshes are great at reducing the impact of coastal surges, dampening the power of waves & absorbing flood water. A front line defence against coastal flooding. Check out examples of historic salt mashing flooding on our map cim.mola.org.uk/map/records/...

Yesterday our Sefton Coast team had a great day networking at the flood and coast expo in Liverpool. It was fascinating learning more about flood protection and coastal engineering. Bit windy down on the old docks! #FC2026 #CIWEM

We're delighted that the public contribution system for our digital map launched today! Have you got photos, postcards, or video showing how the coast has changed since 1925? Then we'd love you to add your memories to the map to help plot how our coastline is changing cim.mola.org.uk/map/contribute

Great picture of the beach at Margate 1890s from the UK Photo And Film Archive. Showing the mobile wagon changing rooms used by bathers, following the tide down into the intertidal zone as the tide changed. @coastsinmind.bsky.social #coastalhistory #coastsinmind

I've been supporting @coastsinmind.bsky.social Team Swale. This week we've launched the #CoastsInMind community map. cim.mola.org.uk/map #CoastsInMind is a MOLA project made possible by @heritagefunduk.bsky.social and #NationalLottery players. #ForeshoreFriday 🏺🌊⚓️
A derelict Warden Point Radar Station structure lies at angle on the beach. The concrete is stained green in places from exposure in the intertidal zone. Black text on a bright blue background reads, "it took it about 20 years to work down the cliff but it's something you could sort of monitor because it was a big item." The Heritage Fund logo is in the top right corner.
