It maybe has something to do with this idea of something being "dangerous" and "scary" and therefore it's the real deal powerful magicks

Ever consider that the popularity of Lovecraftian entities in "Real Occultism" stems from the desire for a devil in a secular age? If you don't have a soul that can be damned you can at least settle for a Cthulhu or Nyralythotep who threatens your sanity.

You start understanding why so many of these lineages would keep their images secret. Because this image of Ganapati Ragavajra is beautiful and loaded with important esoteric symbolism... But monkey brain sees it and goes

Ganesha is great for a lot of reasons but one thing is he's a relatable god. Big head? Me too. Loves sweets? Same buddy. Trying to solve everybody's problems? You already know it.

The basic "folk chaoism" has permeated most of Occultism. We can always argue when something really qualifies as Chaos Magick vs blank with CM influence but it's everywhere. Though to be fair Moores gripe seems to be more with the lack of "sophistication" and "materialism" he associates with CM.

That or there's some Trump admin mandated "I'm a crazy person look at me" quota they all have to hit so El Presidente seems a bit more normal.

Wait... So you're agreeing with us that you should just go pirate shit instead of bragging that you spent your money on a woo woo book when you were struggling to afford food?

Dismissive without answering anything, deeply unserious person, Online Occultism is great

Chaos Magick News @cmnpod.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

If someone bought your book instead of feeding themselves would you take that as a good or reasonable thing to do? If somebody that destitute pirated your book would you think they had done a great wrong? Is there some glamour or pride to take in that sort of self inflicted suffering?

Chaos Magick News @cmnpod.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Sorry we haven't posted in a bit. Had a flashback to the time somebody posted about having spent money on occult books instead of food like it was flex... Then the author of one of the books showed up in the comments mad that we said you can't pirate a sandwich. So anyway, Online Occultism is great

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be," - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, you must be oh so smart, or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me. #discordianism #eris #harvey #chaosmagick #friday

One of the pitfalls in CM especially with beginners is emphasizing gnosis and altered states as "mental stuff" forgetting we experience radical changes of consciousness going through our day to day particularly by the physical environment & activity we engage in. Your hand & brain are connected

Our particular niche of occult social media is funny. You wake up to a handful of new followers and it's Witchy girl, Edgy Satanist, username that spells Chaos with a K, Leftist Shitposter, the business page for a BBQ joint 3 states away, 2 reincarnations of Crowley and then this guy...

When Kennedy’s not working on his podcast, Chaos Magick News, he has been instrumental in making sure our message is getting out there! He’ll be challenging the notion of chaos magic as ‘result based’ magic during his talk, Pragmatic Magic! #operationoctarine #chaosky #occultsky #witchsky

On an opalescent multicolored background, white translucent text boxes with black text read the following text introducing one of our organizers, s.m. Kennedy:

‘s.m. KENNEDY
Organizer and Presenter, he/him

s.m. Kennedy is a working class chaos magician, occulture commentator and occasional gonzo journalist from the deep south. Their interests include the influence of philosophical pragmatism on occultism, embodiment in magical practice, and making people laugh about the spooky things we're into.

They have dedicated the last four years to their podcast Chaos Magick News, a comedic and sometimes insightful look at occultism and current events from an occult perspective, with their best friend, Cohost and a ragtag band of wonderful chaotes who put up with them. They also like sports, kitties and jazz.’

We said it was pretty ugly on the show but sitting with them is slowly winning us over. #chaosmagick #tarot

The Steven Forrest controversy isn't surprising for its content, there are lots of woo woos with truly awful ideas, but most of them are aware enough to not say it into a microphone and stick it online?
