I found a long-haired dachshund running alone in the street today. I decided in .3 seconds to call her Moxie the Doxie. Her human came for her before I could complete the retrieval. Glad she has a home, but Murphy was 🤏 this close to getting a sister. Murphy and Moxie screams Pixar movie.

Highly recommend watching the docuseries "Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror." There is a point that is well documented in this series: the choices the USA made in the wake of the Cold War laid the groundwork for the tragedy. I find 9/11 conspiracies disrespectful. That's not what this is.

I was two days shy of my 11th birthday on 9/11. You always hear stories about people watching it happen live in their classrooms or at home or work, but my class was shown nothing, and basically told nothing. That experience has always held a strange duality to me and I'll explain.

In an exercise of learning to be more forgiving of myself, I'm letting my 1,267 day Duolingo streak die. I've wanted a break for a while, but the guilt of losing that streak was all that kept me logging in. That isn't learning, and it's sure not good for my mental health. It's okay to step away.

We get the occasional coyote in my area (and apparently there were bear sightings too???), so even though we have a fenced yard we take our dog out on a leash after dark. The skunk that we narrowly avoided has just solidified this decision forevermore. Why are the stinky critters so cute though?
