In my latest book of new poems, 'The Weirdest Thing of All', I've told a story of growing up in north London in the 1940s and 50s, with parents who were Jewish, with signs everywhere of 'the War' just finished, and my great friendship with 'Harrybo', who died not long after.

A significant contributor to the gender pay gap and the continuing financial disparity between men and women is the undervaluing of all of the unpaid care work done by women in Ireland. Women all over Ireland get up early, every morning, and go to work, unpaid and unvalued.

The latest Dept of Housing homeless figures for July show that there is now 17,527 people recorded as homeless, including 5,659 children across 2,724 families. This represents an increase of 45 people experiencing homelessness compared with June, including 39 more children and 18 more families.
