Just checked the weather and it's 97 tomorrow and mid 90s all week. So... yay.

Some avocados require that. Not the ones in that episode, to be sure, but some.

Oh wow you're in my parents neighborhood and want to do a repaint estimate on the house they sold last year? That's sweet.

All done. Rebooting. And... it's not reachable. Gonna need a screen now. Crap. Tomorrow.

I wish a podcast would just end when the funny guy leaves. There's always the temptation to check back and it never goes well.

OK the apt repo fix exited cleanly, I think this is working. Kid of amazing actually.

Ope- found a fix. Now we're off the map, I'm not sure if the live upgrade will like this. We'll see.

Oh look it's our old friend libcrypt.so.1 stirring up shit. In place upgrade is probably a no go.

I'm unfortunately stranded on raspbian. I don't want to touch hardware so I'm going to try to do an in place upgrade to debian. This should be interesting. If it blows up, no harm done, I'll reimage the sd card.

There was a guy behind me filling up a mid 60s International Travelall. Which, holy shit what a cool truck. But anyway, it took him so long to fill it I thought he was into mid 3 figures, but when I made a crack about a pre-fill credit check he said he just had to fill really slow for some reason.
Not the actual Travelall. The one I saw had a sticker on the driver door that said "GOLIATH", which made it even better.

There were years in the late 70s when these exploded from the bay area oak trees by the billion. When I was in second grade you couldn't sit down on the lunch benches without brushing a hundred of them off. The eaves of my parents garage still have bundles of their cocoons in the dark corners.

Do people who invite you over during rush hour traffic know? Like has it occurred to them? "Hey man, you should come up from San Jose for a cup of coffee in Union City at 6:15 PM on a Wednesday, I'd love to catch up!"

Passed an accident on my ride. Smashed up black car. On my way back, I passed a flatbed. Black car, Audi. And in front, ominously, a sportbike on its side. It was hard to see but the front looked like it had taken a significant impact.

I don't even know if I'm playing my music loud. It doesn't seem loud. But the dynamics are so insanely wide that even turned down it absolutely and effortlessly fills the room. I put on Luttrell's Music for My Memories and the kick showed that it was hitting 26 Hz on my phone spectrogram.

I looked up the song and it turns out there's exactly 9 seconds that's good. Which is just long enough to accidentally flow from twerking to the charleston.

OK, I do for my small room. The people who run big shows are literal, actual wizards. I saw the Chemical Brothers at Bill Graham auditorium in SF and it was like the greatest high end sound demo in the world, times 1000, at 120 db, in a room the size of an airplane hangar.

It seems insane to say but these things require a subwoofer. They have a hard cutoff at 50Hz. I'm not sure if it's a high pass filter in the crossover or just the cabinet design. But pro gear is like that; they assume you Know What You're Doing. Luckily, I do.

Behold the Yamaha S5115HT. Performances hourly in my living room, presumably for a limited time. Or not? I'm not sure how this is going to go. Diana Krall was here a few minutes ago and she seemed right at home.
A normal bookshelf speaker... or is it?Another clue

Youtube didn't push it to me. My kids didn't find it on tiktok or insta. I didn't torrent it in a big bundle. I didn't stumble across it looking at random music in audio gear demos. Youtube music didn't suggest it. I assume the Today show has been pushing it? I just don't watch that any more.

When cells fail or overcharge, they should internally disconnect themselves. Physically. Testers have found no name cells where this feature is just not present or faked.

My guesses based on youtube university and ebike stuff: Battery management system and brand name cells. The BMS keeps the charge of the fleet of cells balanced. The brand name cells are constructed better; there's a lot of stuff in cells that needs to be shockingly precise, and failsafe.
