It happened then because Vern lost him; Vern lost him because he drove recklessly; he drove recklessly because he was stressed; he got out to look at horses because he was stressed. He was lucky, but it wasn't a deus ex machina. Gilroy loves to use the theme that black ops are messy and inexact.

"You don't want the money?" is her last line because the pursuit of money has been Michael's fatal flaw this whole movie (gambling, restaurant investment, $80k bonus hush money to repay the mob) and he's finally doing the right thing without a profit motive

Tony Gilroy iirc explicitly avoided scripting a motivation Imo Clooney acts it like a man who's drowning under his stress and then sees a strange sight - bridled but unsaddled horses roaming free - and he's drawn in by how utterly content they are, and desperately wants that for himself

Haven't listened yet, I assume SEW did something like "I wanted to get the most authentic experience possible, so I bought an entire Vintage deck and lit it on fire"

It's part of a cycle of made-for-EDH legends exclusive to that set, which has a couple other bangers

Whenever Imaryll attacks, it gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of other Elves you control.

You may have Imaryll assign its combat damage as though it weren't blocked.

Flying

During your turn, equipped creatures you control have indestructible.

I got the gold-leaf foil treatment of this card and I think it's legit the most striking and beautiful card I own ❤️

Calling my long shot now that Doom isn't RDJ, he got paid a few zeroes less than advertised to *pretend* to be Doom so that the real casting could be kept secret (Longer shot is that it's Jake Gyllenhaal)

I pulled the foil of this version in a pack, it looks great, and now it's worth as much as the rest of the deck it's in

Love it, especially the lil theft subtheme you've got with stuff like Come Back Wrong and Thieving Amalgam ❤️ Closest I have to that is my old Miracle Max deck! Sac dorks like the Adnate and Szeras rule there, highly recommend manabox.app/decks/9vVohT...

Here's a slightly old photo

Interior shot of Mox Mania's player area, with clean white tables and chairs covered by a variety of playmats. The wall in the background is dominated by a collage made of MTG cards that spells "Mox Mania" over an image of a Black Lotus.

Mox Mania in Madison is a delightfully functional and airy space, and light enough with decor that you could throw a sneaky lil Mana Pool poster on the wall for photos

This hyperspecific genre of tragedy hits me for critical damage EVERY TIME

Superman comic "For The Man Who Has Everything" where Superman is imprisoned in a dream where Krypton never exploded and he lived a peaceful life of domestic bliss

These panels depict him finally confronting that his beloved son isn't real

The longer you've been a fan, the harder you are to satisfy, because "Trek" is inextricably mingled with your life when you first watched it. There are people who aren't fans of the show so much as they're fans of how they felt 20 years ago, and the show is how they chase that feeling again.

It appeals to a lot of people! Including me! Give me fanfic that ships Auntie Grub and Daretti in a coffeeshop AU where Shadowmoor!Grub is just her after two glasses of wine, and Daretti gives her a ride home in his classic car only to discover that she's his next-door neighbor he never met before

When it comes to work, I've been a successful manager, and I've worked for successful and unsuccessful managers. Communication always takes time, but "unnecessary" communication in advance takes much less time than communication after something's blown up because of a miscommunication.

(Besides which, sending a quick kudos to an artist when their work becomes influential to others just seems like good management)

That seems like a simplification - the AD wasn't to reference a vibe or a character design, it was to recreate specific elements so closely that Volkan apparently double-checked it was OK and then Liiga felt blindsided by it. It wouldn't be monitoring the art for inspiration. AD chose the piece.
