50+ cargo bikes, cruising through London 😎😍 Last week's Cargo Bike Cruise brought together businesses using cargo bikes for deliveries, waste management, electrical work, gardening and more. And the latest TfL data shows cargo bike use increased by 126% across London between 2022 and 2025 🙌

Back-to-school season is the perfect time to think about what kind of space children have outside the school gates. Fewer cars = more safety, more calm, and more freedom to walk or cycle. But too often, it’s not the reality. Let’s add safer streets to the back-to-school checklist ✅

🚸 A #schoolstreet isn’t only about safer roads… In Paris, surface temperatures on some redesigned streets were found to be, on average, 5°C cooler than on nearby roads (and in some cases up to 12°C cooler!) 🌡️ School streets are a first step towards more liveable neighbourhoods 🌈💚 #StreetsForKids

The greening of urban logistics in the Netherlands is accelerating! 🚚 The Netherlands started 2025 with 14 municipal zero-emission zones (ZEZ). Since then, that number has grown to 20 - and the momentum isn’t slowing down 📈

⚡ Europe’s cities need more public EV charging - but targeted planning could reduce the number of chargers they need to build by more than a quarter. Our new research compares Greater London, Madrid, Paris and Warsaw, four cities with very different networks and starting points.

📈 Diesel vans registered by businesses in London have hit an all-time high At the end of 2025, there were more than 100,000 diesel vans registered by companies in London - that’s 18 diesel vans for every 1 company-registered electric van.

Nearly 20,000 people are killed on roads in the EU every year, and most of them aren't in cars. The change we want to see starts with lower default speed limits, school streets to protect children, and measures to tackle carspreading so that our cities are built for people, not cars.

We’ve written jointly to the Mayor, urging action 👇 💷 Oversized vehicle levy in road pricing 🚫📢 No more SUV ads on TfL 🅿️ Parking charges that reflect vehicle size ⚡🚲 Investment in car clubs & cargo bikes ⚖️ Vehicle size limits + weight-based tax Let’s make London’s streets safer for everyone 💪

London has committed to eliminating all road deaths and serious injuries by 2041 - but #carspreading is putting that at risk 🚗 ⬆️ Around a third of cars on London’s roads are now larger SUVs, making streets more dangerous, especially for children.

As Dr Chris Van Tulleken says: “It’s way cheaper and faster than a car… great for our health, happiness, climate and community.” But switching to cargo bikes will only work if we make space for them. Without secure parking and subsidies, too many families won’t be able to access them.

The #schoolstreets we want are spaces that people can enjoy every day, at any hour, right outside our schools. But there are also more gradual options that make streets safer and more welcoming for children on their journeys to and from school ⬇️ #StreetsForKids

🚗 Car clubs are a key part of London’s decarbonised transport future - but are boroughs doing enough to support them? Our campaigner @zakbond.bsky.social sat down with the CEO of CoMoUK to talk about why incoming councillors should prioritise car clubs, and how they can help them thrive.

⚡ It’s time to Electrify London ⚡ Road transport causes 28% of the city's CO₂ emissions and 42% of NOx - a major health and climate issue. We need local political parties to make switching to electric vehicles easier for all. Ask for action! 👇 cleancitiescampaign.eaction.org.uk/electrify-lo...

Why does it matter ❓ Traffic is the main source of air pollution in Brussels, and children are particularly vulnerable. School streets = safer journeys where children can breathe easier. Creating safe, healthy spaces for children is possible - what’s often missing is the ambition & political will.

🎁 📦 Every gift travels a path before it reaches its destination. Cities, retailers and delivery companies can make that journey less polluting - through zero-emission vehicles, optimised routes, parcel lockers and micro-hubs. Thoughtful gifts deserve thoughtful deliveries. @ecodes.bsky.social

🚗⚡ Shared electric mobility helps cut car ownership, reduce emissions, and make more efficient use of road space. Yet policy conditions in London make it difficult for car-sharing operators to thrive, leaving it lagging behind other European cities.

😮 On average, European cities have double the local public transport offering of major Italian cities and five times the kilometres of rapid mass transit (metro, trams, trolleybuses).

Between 2022 and 2024, cargo bike journeys in London rose by 104% 😲  To maintain momentum, London needs to ensure the right infrastructure and incentives are in place. More space for safe cycling and cargo bike parking would make it easier for businesses to opt for pedal power.  📸 Honor Elliott
