A Roman tombstone for #TombTuesday. It was found on Ludgate Hill in London in 1669, and marked the final resting place of centurion Vivius Marcianus. His wife Januaria Martina set it up for him some time in the third century.

There is plenty of evidence of Roman activity in the north for three of four years after the battle, so nothing to suggest that it wasn't a Roman victory.

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌 ℹ️: science.nasa.gov/image-articl...
The imposing Callanish Stones stand talk with their shadows spanning out across the glass. It's a super clear sky, but looks cold. Above the central stone is a strange figure-of-8 shape of dots. This is the location of the Sun, at noon, on various different days across the year.

This is the six metre tall menhir of Kerampeulven in Finistère, Brittany. Perhaps due to its phallic shape, it was long believed to enhance fertility, so women who hoped to fall pregnant would rub their bellies against it. #StandingStoneSunday

The superbly preserved Craigmillar Castle, three miles south-east of the centre of Edinburgh. Mary, Queen of Scots came here in December 1566 when the "Craigmillar Bond", a plan to kill her second husband, Lord Darnley, was agreed. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot... #Scotland #Edinburgh
Craigmillar Castle. The image shows a grassy area in the foreground with a tall grey stone wall beyond it, with a circular tower at either end. The structure has battlements on top and there are gables and other parts of buildings projecting above the wall. Three people are standing on top of the right-hand tower. The scene is in sunlight.
