I have high hopes for this new comics buying and reading app, and they have a whole lot of promotional sales and bundles right now, so maybe get in there, nerds.

youtu.be/nUBb-UTELjc?... Target: 2006 continues! We learn the fate of The Nemesis in the comics and of Galvatron's captive, Jazz. The newly arrived trio finally explain how time travel works and come up with a plan to get rid of Galvatron, which all depends on poor Ultra Magnus.

The popcorn bucket got way out of hand quite a long time ago, but it hasn't stopped. It's bizarre to watch from the sidelines. People enjoy it, I guess, so that's nice.

Can anyone help? I need a digital version of a book I own, which isn't available to buy as an ebook. If anyone knows a way to get the IDW Transformers: The Animated Movie comic pages digitally, please let me know!

Black Tower: The Raven Conspiracy#2 solidifies it as a kind of gritty crime/gang story, but with huge scoop of urban fantasy - So we've got a killer, stealing objects and information for their handler, but he's doing it in their dreams. So cool. Art dripping with mood and atmosphere too.

ClarionComicsJP @clarioncomicsjp.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Corpse Knight#6 gives the series an unexpectedly sweet, poignant ending and retroactively makes the story a zombie story that's unlike any other I've ever read. The art and colors in this have been excellent start to finish too, this one's a lovely, maggoty, gross little gem.

There's a feeling I really love that only comics give me, when an issue ends and I have NO idea whatsoever what'll come next. T.V. shows don't do that, you always know, at least vaguely, what KIND of thing might happen next, where the story or characters might go. The general tone.

Forever Home#1 is an interesting start, there's a big scoop of topical commentary and family drama mixed with kind of... Sci-fi time dilatation, which means that events happen rapidly. Which I... Think is an allegory for how events in nature are deteriorating faster than we realise?

My partner, who I love so dearly, but who refuses to TOUCH a comic book, suggested we watch Hellrasier 2 when I showed him this. WHAT A BIZARRE MOVIE. Total nonsense, it's basically just "Vibes," but the budget was cut in production so the vibes aren't very effective. Crazy they even got a 3rd.

youtu.be/zpVHcbSZbv8?... Two very different chapters from Target: 2006 this week, one with an excellently executed twist ending, changing the entire story from here onwards, and one introducing a whole host of new characters by having them perform acts of extreme violence!

Regicide #1 and 2 were great! A farmer joins a strange warrior on a quest to vanquish a cruel ruler. Sounds like a simple story, but everything about it is a touch strange, the art and the writing have a wonderful, ineffable, odd quality that makes it compelling. Awesome if you want some "Strange."

In fact, @joshjohnsoncomedy.bsky.social I dunno if you'll ever see or read this, but as someone who -deeply- loves comics, any kind of comics, as a medium and an art form, I'm kind of begging you to do this. If you made it funny and accessible...? You could get thousands into comics by... being one.

001

ClarionComicsJP @clarioncomicsjp.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Josh Johnson is an excellent comedian who puts out a topical weekly stand up special... ONCE A WEEK. To an audience of 2.62 million. If he put one together about how to get into comics, to help all those people on the outside and overwhelmed by the prospect, I can't imagine the impact it could have.

I often start recording and somewhere in the middle say "This edit is going to suck." Burps, coughs, mic buzz, stuttering, stammering repeatedly... But, to be less negative, I'm finding my own style of reading my notes more and more. I just need to FUCKING SLOW DOWN so I can stop stumbling so often.

Hellraiser Resurrections: New Wounds was great - Even as someone who isn't a particular fan of the franchise. Some surprising twists and turns and what looks to be a soft reboot or reworking of Hellraiser, so not knowing anything seems to be fine? Grisly but interesting occult business!

I can't believe there's a comic about a demon horse, but The Dirt Beneath The Devil#2 has fully sold me. The writing is great, it's tense and snappy, and only one character knows the horse's true nature, and it's already causing trouble for her. So weird and wild, but so good!

I read two team books this morning, both about new teams taking the monikers of ones that have existed before. Both are good fun! Legion feels a touch more serious, both both are bright and bold, art and colors are popping, and the writing has a serious but light tone. These are great for newcomers!

Operation Iron Coffin is a strange mixture of ingredients that somehow all work well together! Nazis, Dracula, manifacured vampires, Faustian deals, one of the most harrowing single images I've seen in comics for a while, and an unexpected twist ending. A bonkers runaway train, an enjoyable ride!

Corpse Knight#5! Unless I'm mistaken, this series is a little under the rader, and it's a shame. The art and colors are gnarly, the story has twisted, and now twisted again, with an awesome last page reveal that has me eager to see the finale!

000

ClarionComicsJP @clarioncomicsjp.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Hammerfist#1 is a chunky first issue, and it uses those extra pages to really set out the main character and the tone of the story, all of which makes the unexpected twist extra effective. If you're able, this is one to read going in blind. A great start, I'll read the next issue for sure!

Maybe it's exactly because I don't like war stories that among the most effecting, absorbing, thought provoking and poignant comics coming out right now, two of them are war comics. Both of these are incredible, and things I'd put in front of anyone who questions the worth of a comic verses a novel.
