Even when I see you now and I am aged over 40 you still make me feel safe and happy. Thank you for bringing that joy and comfort!

Yes it’s only just ended so the gap between now and the next season feels so far away. The tests from South Africa will help over the winter. We can see some sun on TV at least and England might play better than last winter. Hopefully.

I think this is the first time Glam have stayed up after promotion to Division One. Good to see.

Equally applies to Irish citizenship which is automatically given to anyone born in NI or who has an Irish parent. Might drive a bit of a coach and horses through the GFA if this goes ahead.

Trying to get my head around the issues surrounding marches along the Garvaghy Road in the nineties got me interested in history as a teenager. I cannot believe that we are back here again with it as an issue in 2026. How did the parades commission think this was going to end?

I have to send my second passport to the passport office when I renew my British passport but it could get complicated for say 2nd generation Irish who are automatically Irish but may never claim the citizenship in the form of a passport etc.

It needs to be banned. Its clearly a public order risk. Its just sectarian baiting by the Orange order, they're not the power in NI anymore and they scare no one.

Don’t be at all surprised if Stormont collapses one way or another this week – SF because the present-day structures don’t serve the interest of nationalists; DUP because the First Minister participated in an unlawful protest gathering – and for another stalemate that last for *years*.

I have never really been convinced that the Order care what other people think of them.

It’s awful, there is now a massive standoff on the road. It’s dragging up bad memories of the nineties. I can’t believe it was allowed to go ahead. Very poor decision by the parades commission and the court of appeal.

It’s not really enough but I have just done a big shop on the rnli website. I figured it shows them some support and we have to start somewhere. Been wearing my rnli top all day.

I’ve worn a grubby RNLI cap for decades. I sound London, but I was born in Truro and I was a basically feral (Gen X) kid wandering the coast path with a dog until sunset for a lot of my early life. The lifeboats are in the fabric like trawlers and farms and pasties and fish and chips.

I love when the dropdown options are things like: our school, our pupils and our parents because the term dates could possibly be under any of those. Then you eventually find they are under a completely different heading on the dropdown menu.

Yes and the government will make it sound like a huge sum is being invested. But when that trickles down to school, it won’t cover much.

Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
I wish that was an option for her but it’s not and (sadly) never will be. She will need care all her life. I feel I am deducted to begging for her to matter and for her education to matter and I really hoped that, as a society, we had moved away from that approach to learning disabilities.

Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
There will always be people who play the system but it’s not special treatment for my child with severe learning disabilities to be able to access appropriate education. It feels genuinely terrifying to think that maybe denied to her & those like her on the basis she can attend a mainstream school.

New England?? He doesn’t seem to like us much. Maybe he will rename it New Argentina??

Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
This. It’s a battle all the time. My child also has a genetic condition resulting in severe learning disabilities and it’s been really hard work to get her a basic education.

So she would spend more time out of school and less time learning and the appointments would be less effective. Pushing more pressure on the NHS.
100
Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
That means her teacher can prepare her. The appointment doesn’t take her out for a period of time whilst she travels to a hospital so she stays in school. Even if this provision could be replicated across mainstream provision, I think the cuts to the school nurse provision show what would happen.

Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
I have been trying to think of some practical examples as to why this matters. My daughter has to have appointments for her eyes. They are a nightmare as she can’t understand what needs to be done and so she can’t cooperate. At her school, a charity comes in and does the appointments at school.

This will be devastating for children with the most challenging needs. The wider we spread support the less able the system is to target resource to the most vulnerable. I know people don't like to say this but it is true. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

No. But our children are already fairly invisible to the state so I don’t think their reality is at the front of their minds when they think about this. Unless they are supposed to be caught by the “complex needs” exclusion which is undefined and we have no idea what that means.

Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Every child is different but, as an adult, I can’t imagine moving from one workplace to another (I remember someone telling me it takes 3 months to become accustomed to a new workplace). Why should children be different?

Schools (mainstream & special) badly need investment. Send aside, they are on their knees & it’s becoming harder & harder to keep the system going. I saw a commentator say that the proposed reforms would lead to collapse of the education system in 5 years. Feels a bit OTT to me but not completely.

Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
It’s the fact that they expect the special schools to do the training that particularly gets me. And the idea that pupils can dip in and out of special schools and go back to mainstream. How on earth is that supposed to work? They clearly have no idea about the actual reality for children like ours.
110
Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Me too. But they are all seeing financial savings and I just don’t think they have enough idea of the actual reality on the ground for parents or schools.

get funding for the specific needs of a pupil. I really don’t want to think about what will happen when the changes (and it’s hard enough now). I also worry about the fact that governors will be asked to decide on disputes between parents and schools over provision. We aren’t paid and we don’t have
130
Clare @clarec.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
The government will say that they are funding more but when it breaks down to what an individual school will get, it’s often peanuts. I am a governor at a small primary and the expectations for what we can provide v the funding we will get are really worrying. We struggle now when we can (in theory)

As a parent of a child with severe learning disabilities, this is what keeps me up at night. My daughter could never be in a mainstream school but, under these reforms, that’s where she could be forced to be. It’s terrifying.

The press coverage (particularly around mobility cars) feels reminiscent of how single mothers were treated in 80s - same level of whipping up hysteria.

Its like the attitude of public authorities to disabled people is similar to the victorians and “the poor” ie if we have to pay for them then they have to suffer (or at least lead a bar minimum life with no treats).

I've always said ITV4 would be a perfect free to air home for #TheCricket and it may finally happen. The more the England teams can be seen, the better and test coverage would be the icing on the cake. Sky won't give up much easily but definitely a move in the right direction
