Pippin still doesn't like Asher. When indoors, she lives atop the wardrobe where he can't reach her. She's actually quite happy up there. See how gracefully nonchalant she is? "I'm ready for my screenshot, Claire. "

Meet Asher, aka Buddy. I adopted him from the shelter 3 weeks ago. He's a total love bug, super friendly and cuddly. Sadly, my little girl is convinced that he's a threat. I feel her stress in my own body. Doing all I can to make her feel safe and loved. Hoping she mellows...

Needed a break from the human world, so I went for a stroll at the Headwaters Reserve. The salmon are spawning, the river is singing, tributary creeks are playing the rocks with mini waterfall melodies.

Quiet evening. Fire burning low in the stove, cats dozing on their pillows, full moon lighting clouds before the next storm. Power went out last night from the fierce winds. Lovely darkness, peace (once the Trumpist neighbor turned off his generator). Even tho I depend on SNAP, I feel serene.

Did you catch our Signs of Fascism protest at yesterday’s Friday Night Market? There are many ways to resist and a silent vigil is one of them. Stay tuned to see where we go next… #resistfascism

Eureka CA showed up for Make Good Trouble yesterday. I'm proud of our group for organizing and our community for turning out--estimated 350-500 folks. BTW, that's me being inarticulate in the beginning. www.instagram.com/reel/DMRP2aa...

Replenishing my spirit with a walk near Trinidad this morning. Trees and creeks and ocean views help. Make sure you get outdoors, too! I mean, why the fuck are we fighting if not for the nonhuman world?

Our Signs of Fascism group held a one-hour silent vigil at the Eureka 4th of July street festival. It was frightening to be so vulnerable but our trained safety marshals diverted all hassles. We got many Thank Yous and an amazing amount of being ignored. It was powerful nonetheless.

Eureka CA showed up big time. The police estimated 4000, which is HUGE for us. My group is the 3rd pic from the end; we're in black holding signs of fascism. We got a lot of thanks. There were more of us earlier, & we hope to take the display to future events. lostcoastoutpost.com/2025/jun/14/...

I am in downtown Los Angeles right now and it is completely surreal to hear that Trump is sending Marines here. We are listening to mariachi music. People have dogs. There are teenagers here. It is utterly and completely peaceful. Please tell your friends.

A friend who lived through South African Appartheid said that the breakdown of the regime seemed impossible until it wasn't. And every action made a difference. You do what you can to stop the immoral government and each such action is important. Eventually the government can't hold on anymore.

Excited to've found a group of local activists with whom to fight fascism. Currently focusing on stopping Avelo airlines from transporting deportees for ICE. Meanwhile, I cheer myself with the belief that there are more trees than humans. And the neighborhood ewes are birthing lambs. See the baby?

My farmer neighbors pasture their meat poultry on my pasture. The turkeys are moved to fresh grass daily, and will free range once they're too big for hawks to take. The sheep have one job: mow that tall grass! I get the +s of livestock without the responsibility. Yay!
Young turkeys in a chicken tractor made from plastic pipe and wire for easy portability. Tall grass, willows and conifers in the background. A baker's dozen of sheep chewing their cud on a pasture of tall grass. Some are all brown, some all white, the rest a variety of color combinations and markings. Willows and conifers in the background. Another shot of the sheep, looking up field. My little blue house is visible, as is my uphill neighbour's brown house. Note: they are not the farmer neighbors.

Went out to the coast today, near Orick, CA. Enjoyed the gray on gray of clouds and waves, cow-calf combos in pasture, Redwood Creek joining the ocean, and the magnificent driftwood. Sometimes ya just gotta get away from humans and reconnect with Nature. Grateful to live in coastal Humboldt!
Gray on gray: shapely clouds dominate the image, with a thin layer of ocean surf rolling in to the shore. Large gnarly driftwood stump with rich orange-brown surfaces where sections were sawed off. Wooded hills in the background. Black and white swirly pattern on worn driftwood log that looks like an intentional inlay. Sorry, no idea how to describe the shape.Massive pile of driftwood in front of a wooded hill, with clouds, blue sky, and a bit of ocean in the background

K-CHO cooked again! Meatballs, tomato sauce, rolls, stuffed squash, white bean soup, kale chips, salad, eggs, muffins. Still searching for the name of our cat-statue mascot. But a neighbor cat, Loki, made his maiden visit to our kitchen. Friendly guy, heard rumors of cat treats. Rumors were true.
Servings of food listed in post on a table covered by a pink cloth, with a hand-painted green octopus wall hanging behind. Loki cat being scratched behind his head. He's a medium long hair grey with light orange markings and white chest and paws.

Am feeling deep grief over the illegal deportation and imprisonment of people by ICE et al. This is the beginning of the horror my father's parents were killed by. I don't know how to stop it. I want to devour a box of chocolates. Instead I walked 3 laps round my back field in the sunshine.

Also this picture would prefer to be seen alone in its full glory.
Looking down a steep hillside onto some buckeyes, deciduous and live oaks, and bays in various shades of green from chartreuse to dark olive green. Green hillside, green hills in distance. Makes me think of Lorca:
O green, how I want you green.
Green wind. Green branches.
The ship out on the sea
and the horse on the mountain.
With shadows around her waist
she dreams on her balcony,
green flesh, green hair,
with eyes of cold silver.
O green, how I want you green.
Under the gypsy moon
all things are watching her
and she cannot see them.
O green, how I want you green.
Great stars of hoarfrost come
with the fish of shadow
that opens the road of dawn.
The fig tree rubs the wind
on the sandpaper of its branches,
and the hill is a wildcat
bristling its spikes.
But who's coming? From where...?
She stays on her balcony,
green flesh, green hair,
dreaming of the bitter sea.
