See, people always want to make this just about "sports," but the real upshot here is that, 6-3, trans women can't make a claim under the Equal Protection Clause. And if they can't do that, it's hard to see how they have constitutional rights.

With all the focus Civil War wise in the upcoming days with the anniversaries for Gettysburg and Vicksburg, one must not forget the third major campaign underway in late June 1863. Rosecrans forced Bragg to retreat from Tullahoma and middle TN toward Chattanooga in the Tullahoma Campaign.

I say it's interesting because for the second time, I've come across a ship I was researching that had major galley issues in Civil War Charleston (for the dissertation, in late '64 one of the 1862 Confederate ironclads needed to completely replace the galley, think it was the Palmetto State).

Been busy the past few days doing a deep dive through the Logbook for the Bark Restless, a Civil War blockader stationed north of Charleston in 1862 for a paper for the SCWH next month. It's interesting that the ship had a bad galley that gave it problems through the Summer.

Today in 1968, the attack submarine USS Scorpion (SSN-589) sank mysteriously in about 10,000 feet of water in the Atlantic Ocean, about 400 nautical miles southwest of the Azores, with 99 crew members and two Mark-45 ASTOR nuclear torpedoes (each armed with a 10-15 kiloton W34 warhead).
