It also knew when to alter yaml. And, it could detect yaml bugs that had been around forever. The existing team hated it.

This was a few generations ago, but it was quite good at interpreting a multi-tiered design and understanding the app's controller/API layer. It would write tests that passed in mocked up JSON.

With strong guidance and a lot of tokens, AI is really good at reading old code bases. I've used it to do refactoring on a pretty large code base. It's also pretty good at ensuring unit test coverage. I didn't get a chance to write integration tests, but I think it would be good at writing drivers.

I see that now that we're getting close to an election that looks like it's going to be a blue wave, some in the media are doing what they can to tighten the race.

I think we lucked out a bit here in that a lot of what Trump does falls into the bucket of “so jaw-droppingly vulgar or corrupt that it’s not technically illegal because it was inconceivable that someone would attempt it.” Like why restaurants rarely post “no defecating on the tables” signs.

Regulatory capture is a real thing. But really, most of the time, an industry is full of people who want real regulations and have the expertise to help define and enforce them. That doesn't mean they could be voluntary. Or that they could just do it themselves. Have you met people?

Another cool thing is chat can now directly update it's own skill.mds directly with your approval. That's another good way to cut down on token usage.

And you should try it. Mythos level performance but cheaper in tokens than Opus 5.

I think it will if there's an obvious next step, but it seems less so, and after a while, it's "ok - good" Gemini is the worst about next steps.

Anyone notice that Opus 5.5 seems to try to end conversations? Like, ok - good chat. Let's talk tomorrow.

USB-C cables and power adaptors are not worth their weight in gold. Everyone just ships electronics with a bad cable and no adaptor - like I have an infinite array of both.

Good idea. The smart TV interfaces are all awful. I got mom a Roku for movies years ago, and she loves it.

After years, Youtube TV finally made it obvious which show is highlighted. There's now an obvious white border instead of just a subtle size change.

I really don't want to see this happen in Canada, but you're kidding yourself if you think it can't. There are plenty of parliamentary systems that have done down the same path.

Yeah - most musical theater has always been slop. I worked for a couple of years for anon-profit producer/presenter who brought in acts from from all over the world - all pretty experimental. 80 was crap, but I got to work on some real gems.

In theory better dispatch could reduce the number of pruners needed. In practice it's more likely IMO that the cost of tree pruning will go down and more people will get their trees pruned.

I finally watched the Tiafo Michelsen match - wow. One thing that bothers me about the coverage this year is that there's very little court side sound. Shoe squeaking, but no ball noise. You can hear the ball clearly when you're there!
