Saying you can threaten trans people with camps? That’s fine. Telling the hard of trust and safety that there’s been an uptick in this behavior and telling him he’s to blame? Verboten, you’re suspended. Fuck this platform.

For context here, a user was responding in a thread to other users (unrelated to the original post) when they used the phrase
"Trans rights or Trans camps. You chose the camps and you're blaming Dems" followed by profanity.
> is this user toxic? undeniably yes.

Are they threatening trans users directly?
No. Trans folks in the US have been targeted repeatedly. That's awful and you have my sympathy.
Within the context of a single post we wouldn't consider it a direct threat or targeting a protected category. le send trans folks to concentration camps.

Unions are a great way to help developers, but how can regular fans help? Just remember the one-two punch! 1. Support games developed by unionized devs! (An easy way to find out is to look up Studio+Union) 3. Circulate pro-union material (like this post) and keep the conversation alive!

The unfortunate truth is, if you want community spaces and resources you have to actively support them. If it's based in a private business you have to buy stuff from them (as profit pays the operational costs) If it's nonprofit, you need to attend frequently (as usage stats secure grants).

"They're not misunderstanding the film; they're co-opting a message"

Screencap from the interview linked in the quoted post

Marlow Stern (the interviewer): You have one of the most renowned replies in Twitter history. Elon Musk tweeted out, “Take the red pill,” then Ivanka Trump enthusiastically wrote, “Taken!” to him, and then you replied, “Fuck both of you.” I’m curious how you feel about the co-opting of “The Matrix” by those on the right who don’t really seem to understand its messaging.

Lilly Wachowski: I mean, I can’t sit in a room and explain the movie to every single person who watches it. Even if I did sit in a room with Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump — yikes — it doesn’t matter. They’re not misunderstanding the film; they’re co-opting a message. And that’s what fascists do: They co-opt the messages of progressives and use it to their benefit to confuse and obfuscate what is going on and the intention of their ideology. They do it with everything. They do it with Martin Luther King Jr. Look at how they’ve changed the idea of what antisemitism is.

I feel like more needs to be said about the gender gap in AI psychosis before immediately leaning on "IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOUUUU", bc if anything or anyone starts fawning obsequiously over ME -- or basically every woman/femme/AFAB I know -- we are immediately distrustful and want nothing to do w/ it

I have the kind of audacity that looks at a new craft and goes "Yea, I could try that" or that looks at starting a new convention and goes "I think that could work." with only vibes and gut instinct to go off of. By the way, ProtoCON BC 2026 tickets are still on sale...
