The guilty verdict of the Spokane Three is a horrific injustice and this was always a political prosecution. We all must stand together against fascism and care for our communities.

💥 BOOM 💥 Spokane has passed an emergency ordinance banning new drive-thrus within 1/8-mile of a frequent transit route. The measure is intended to improve pedestrian safety and give the city more time to adopt permanent TOD regulations, which are expected as part of our Comp Plan update this year.

Truly amazing to watch the outcry over a millionaire’s tax in Washington while those stay silent or cheer on a war made by billionaires and for billionaires that is costing a billion dollars a day.

WA population hit a milestone in 2025
New data shows Washington has topped 8 million residents. International migration drove most of the gains, though net international migration declined in 2025, writes FYI Guy.

While I have concerns there’s zero funding attached to the legislation, we have council legislative committee where we formally take positions on legislation. To clarify: We have not taken a position on HB 2489.

Thankful for the tireless work of AG Nick Brown as the Trump Administration unconstitutionally attempts to tie immigration enforcement to federal funds and courts are consistently ruling against these threats. www.spokesman.com/stories/2026...

I’ll also add: ICE are not law enforcement. Today was another execution and a cover up and should be referred in those terms. You can’t be law enforcement if you are not following the law. The Trump playbook is to always conflate ICE as law enforcement to control the narrative.

Tell Senator Patty Murray and Senator Maria Cantwell to vote no on the DHS funding bill this week. Support the Washington Immigration Solidarity Network and your local immigrant led organizations. Defend democracy and take care of your neighbors. Abolish ICE.

I stand in solidarity with the City of Minneapolis. We must end the continued escalation against immigrants by the federal government that is killing people before our eyes. Today was a horrific reminder how armed and masked ICE agents do not make our cities safer. Don’t believe the propaganda.

Looking back at the 2025 wins and a sneak peek to 2026. None of this is possible without Council colleagues, the Mayor and her team, our amazing council staff, community organizers and advocates and everyone who calls, emails and shows up to build a better city. Thank you Spokane and Happy New Year!
