New stove that plugs into a normal wall outlet could be major gain for health and the climate
For 47 million American households, cooking means a gas stove. Gas stoves generate gases that aren't good for people's health and the gas itself contributes to climate change.

In the next few days, I will be sharing some of our work that I am most proud of from my time at NOAA/GFDL. But I would also like a little normalcy today on my feed, so here's my go-to sea ice data viz update. #Arctic sea ice extent still remains the *lowest* on record for the date (JAXA). Not good
Line graph time series of 2025's daily Arctic sea ice extent compared to decadal averages from the 1980s to the 2010s. The decadal averages are shown with different colored lines with purple for the 1980s, blue for the 1990s, green for the 2000s, and white for the 2010s. Thin white lines are also shown for each year from 2000 to 2024. 2025 is shown with a thick gold line. There is a long-term decreasing trend in ice extent for every day of the year shown on this graph between January and April by looking at the decadal average line positions.

I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love. Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below! We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚
A list of the most effective ways an individual can catalyze change at the scale we need to effectively tackle climate change, based on social science.

It's a new Congress and unfortunately, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is on the chopping block. If the clean energy provisions in the IRA are repealed, Americans face higher electricity bills and huge loss in clean energy investments.
Post it note stuck to a bulletin board that says:
"$336 billion less investment, 10% higher electricity rates, and $142 per year increase in household electricity bills."
