No one was excited about the sculptural algae but me??

Algae growing so thick and lush in a pound with so many pockets and peaks and planes it looks like a sculpted rock. It is many shades of luminous green

With the changing of the seasons--with a few months in the year left to go--a shout out to Lemon Pig, month 9, day 22.

Lemon Pig Day 1: fresh, round, happy and unbothered with his toothpick legs, tinfoil tail and Canadian dime held happily in his mouth. His lemon stem eyes just about sparkle as he stands confidently on a beige-grey countertop, assorted kitchen debris behind him.

Lemon Pig today, a desiccated old mouldy husk of his former self. His tail is long gone, though the dime remains. His toothpick legs have made their uneven way into this body so that while he still stands, he does so at a weird tilt. His skin is various shades of off-putting brown, his eyes bugging out of his lumpy head.

Oh yeah, she made soup!* 🥣 *she is me! I made the soup 🍅

A tinfoiled baking sheet full of cut-up tomatoes (purple and yellow), sliced onions, chopped up red bell peppers and green jalapeños and an entire bulb of garlic with the bottom sliced away. The veggies have been oiled and spiced with salt, pepper and herbs.

The veggies being emulsified in a big metal pot with a hand held emulsifier on a black stovetop. They are becoming a nice red-orange soup.
