I started medication for my anxiety this summer after trying to deal with it on my own for at least a decade. I came back to this strip a lot during those early weeks when my mind was telling me to quit taking it. This strip and your posts on what you experienced helped me stay the course.

sure gas is headed to $8/gallon but at least cornell got rid of their gender studies classes. or at least i think they did, i haven’t checked and if im being honest i wouldnt really know if they had or hadnt because it doesnt affect me but it makes $8/gallon gas all worth it

My 2009 Prius was still going strong and I had no plans to replace it, no matter how much I wanted an EV. Then some jerk sawed off my catalytic converter this past January and I was like, welp, there goes that plan. I miss my Prius brethren but the Chevy Bolt has been good to me so far!

If you have a garage with a standard 120v plug, that's probably fine! Funnily enough, I got a 240v charger for cheap from my power company that I haven't even bothered to install yet because the 120v charge has been better than I expected for my driving needs.

As a fellow hiker who drives to trailheads via a Chevy Bolt, this was something I worried about until I did it a few times and found that going for trailheads within 100 miles is plenty for my day hiking needs. We'll see how it goes with the longer backpacks this summer!

I got to work on a couple of these restoration projects and even though it's sad to hear all the baby plants I nurtured probably didn't survive the flooding, it's amazing that the enhancements to the floodplain did exactly what we hoped they would do!

see? here's the thing. A lot of people are like, the earth is fucked, it's beyond salvation, it's hit the tipping point, but time and time again we see that if we just fucking fixed the problem, it rebounds so incredibly fast. Imagine what could be done if people actually cared

Ha! I hadn't heard about this but I'll take a look. It will either be amazingly cathartic or feel like working after working all day, I can imagine no other possible outcomes.

I thought about trying to explain it, but I would probably sound crazy. "Son, you don't understand, the guy who we were watching for20 minutes, he is brain dead. That means he's gone. He's not in there with the dog, the dog is now the only one left and everyone just seems weirdly okay with this."

Took my kids to the monthly school fundraiser movie. This month was Dog Man. I've watched a lot of movies with my offspring but this one... did not spark joy. Being bored out of my mind while simultaneously considering the existential horror of the premise made the 89 minute runtime truly surreal.

IWW IU 520 (Railroad Workers) PRESENTS:

TROLLEY PROBLEM SOLUTION

"Slip the switch" by flipping it while the trolley's front wheels have passed through, but before the back wheels do. This will cause a controlled derailment bringing the trolley to a safe halt.

Comic. Panels up to the 10-year point are grayed out. New panels since the Ten Years comic, which chronicles the first ten years of PERSON 1's journey with cancer: (1) [two people in bed] PERSON 1 (woman): One more chapter? PERSON 2 (man): Don’t we both have to get up early? PERSON 1: Nnnnnggggh PERSON 2: Sure, good point. (2) [many people wearing masks, walking while looking at graphs on their phones] (3) [birds landing on people] PERSON 2 in beanie and scarf: Hah! They like *my* seeds best. PERSON 1 in scarf holding phone with a bird sitting on it: Wait, how do I take a picture of this one? (4) [two people rowing boats with tree landscape] (5) [Person 1 carries overflowing stack of things to Person 2 in bed] PERSON 1: I brought you honey lemon tea, more pillows, a cinnamon roll, Tylenol, another blanket, a– PERSON 2: It was just Appendicitis, I’m really– PERSON 1: *It is my turn to take care of you and I am going to do it right!* (6) [Two people in car] (7) [still in car) PERSON 1: Oh my god. This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful. Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened. This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

As a former library worker, let me add a detail to further reinforce that libraries are good for authors: most ebooks have a digital circulation limit designed to mimic the wear and tear of physical checkouts, after which the library purchases replacements. So more digital checkouts mean more sales

If it's intelligently designed, it's the like every project I've seen in my professional life: full of compromises, struggles to work around the arcane decisions of predecessors long gone, potentially functional but barely holding together by the deadline.
