Heads up, #science people, this "Earth BioGenome Project/Genomes on a Tree (GoaT)" uses generative AI extensively in their advertising, so I would definitely not trust anything that comes out of this. If they can't be bothered to use real graphics and make their own posts, I doubt their app is good.

The post shows two slides, one which looks normal-ish with text over the top of slices of different photos of animals, plants, and fungi. The other one is definitely generated by some kind of Gen-AI steal prompt. It shows a goat in a lab coat by a weird looking "tree" and for some reason there are infographic type logos above sets of text, something that gen AI loves to do when "creating" slides.

One of my pencils is shown in frame. I almost cropped it out, but it offered a sense of scale and also I thought it was kinda funny tbh.

Page 1 of the Gold Shading tutorial, featuring a reference image of Kulve Taroth from Monster Hunter! Step 1: Recolor the lineart to a dark red and set an orange-yellow color for the base gold color. Step 2: On a clipping mask layer, add a subtle gradient in a darker orange color. Step 3: On a clipping mask layer set to multiply and ~80% opacity, use a hard brush to block in the shading color. Use a saturated dark red to accentuate the colors in the shadows. Step 4: Using a combination of the blend tool (NOT the blur tool), layer brush strokes, and the eraser, soften some of the edges of the shading layer and add little details such as scratches and texture.

Add more scratches, deepen the color contrast, airbrush different colors on overlay or hard light, and recolor the lineart. And you're done!

i opened my sketchbook planning to draw something colorful with nathan bein silly/cute in a cool outfit, only to end up drawing something b/w and kinda angsty... im super proud of it but man this was not the plan LMAO #ocart #originalcharacter #oc #traditionalart #sketchbook

A pencil rendering from my index card sketchbook - my (kinda small!) hand is in-frame holding the sketchbook in place for the photo to emphasise the size (~3x2.5 inches).

The drawing itself is a bust should of my oc Nathan done with very harsh shadows and a background as dark as I could get it. Nathan is looking quietly, tiredly at the viewer, holding a polaroid over the right (our right) side of his face, covering his eye and leaving much of the rest of his face in shadow. His eye seems unimpacted by the lighting.

The polaroid is a neck-up view of a much younger Nate, staring emptily and looking traumatized. There's a branch coming in from the left side of the photo that extends far past Nathan's head to the other side. There is a cloud in the shape of a wing on the right (our right) side of his head, extended out. On the left (our left) side of his face it seems a tear has streamed down his cheek. There are also two deer in the background.

I am not good at subtlety, and much of this drawing was an attempt to see how much of his backstory I could shove in as I could without literally showing exactly what happened. Given this is an area I am extremely weak in, I think I did alright.
