A decade ago I probably wouldn’t have been supportive of putting so much public money into the Moda Center. But given the current economic conditions, I think we need this kind of public stimulus.

Interesting point from Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies.
"Rising losses of older households will likely mean that less new construction will be needed to accommodate new households than in years past, but only if the units given up by older households are smoothly returned to the stock, rather than lost to obsolescence or in need of significant rehabilitation. As such, managing the growing number of vacated units will be a concern for both the public and private sectors in the decades ahead, with major implications for neighborhoods and markets, home prices, rents, and housing affordability more broadly."

Q had a streak of menace, particularly in his early appearances. That's an important part of the character. Without it, you get a clownish and boring character like Trelane in Strange New Worlds. Q would throw Picard in front of a Borg cube and kill a few crewmen to wake up the good captain.

I've found this over and over where I cannot find things on the Internet that should be there. A half-remembered quote, an interview, an essay. SEO broke Google search, and it's become functionally useless. So much good writing online is simply gone or lost in the haystack.

I was anti-Silicon Valley before the fascism for the simple fact that they didn't put an em-dash key on the keyboard, showing they have no idea what their users do with their products. Having to type "Alt 0151" multiple times a week to get basic punctuation should be a punishable crime.
