Artemisia (obviously) doesn't describe her own smell, but how would I write it from Mylia's pov... "Artemisia smelt of a fresh sheet of parchment, the metallic tang of spilt ink, and just the barest hint of rich coffee. Spirits, Mylia wanted to wrap herself in that aroma and never let it go."

And for the record, I hate that I want this. It's an extremely lofty goal that damages my mental health and alters my perception of success in a way is not good for me. But I've stop denying that it is something I want, and just started focusing on the parts I can control around it.

I was really enamored with the idea of the protagonist of X being just a guy fighting for the girl he liked, who was the actual chosen one. And then Auron showed up and the whole meta plot and the daddy issues. I get the gameplay criticisms. I think its actually quite weak there.

Thats a great word for it, and I think you nailed it, I always feel like in your snips I can feel the characters thoughts lingering on each other in that sort of highly detailed way that affection creates (and makes me want to read it more I need more wlw pirates)

I like little framing devices like this when they lead you in and out, this gives such an "oral tradition" vibe. I feel like Stylistic techniques like this aren't talked enough about in writing. We have so many more options available to us as writers than just "this happened."

This is great action narration, it flows without getting bogged down in the details, there's both description of not only sights but feeling, and we glimpse how the character feels about it which is the most important part.

I write cozy, adventurous stories about people just trying to find happiness. Expect bad jokes and smooching to be involved.
