#TakeItOrLeaveIt A fun & hi-nrg reconstruction of the birth of Madness. V funny & it was gr8 2 c early '80s London. I was "persuaded" to say that Madness were my fave band when starting a new comp in the early '80s. Truthfully answering "ABBA" caused "issues". Luckily, I loved M's music too #FilmSky

#Digger Well I'm glad I went to see this. The contrasting headlines intrigued me. I'm also glad I didn't read any further. An early development risked making much of it hard to invest in but it all came together at the very end quite satisfyingly. And it was funny! ##FilmSky See it now at DerbyQUAD

An organisation I used to work for sponsored The World Conker Championships about 17 years ago, and I designed all the event branding for it. And they're still using it to this day! 😆 With the logo covered up – bottom right. Lovely swathe of white space there. I should've signed up for royalties...

Scottish film could steal The Jazz Singer’s crown as ‘world’s first talkie’
Scots-written Till the Bells Ring premiered a year before the Hollywood film, which featured spoken words by Al Jolson For almost a century, The Jazz Singer has been celebrated as the world’s first feature-length film to include synchronised dialogue (known as a “talkie”), and English as the first language of cinema. But a chance discovery threatens to upend film history with the news that it may have been beaten to the title by a full year – and by a film made in Glasgow and written in Scots. The breakthrough was made by the historian and self-confessed “film nerd” Marc David Jacobs, who was conducting research for a book on the first wave of British sound films when he came across the story of Till the Bells Ring. Tim Curry, star of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Stephen King’s It, dies aged 80
A prolific performer across stage, screen and TV, the actor starred in Legend, Clue and It, but will always be associated with the flamboyantly camp rock’n’roll musical in which he made his breakthrough Tim Curry, the versatile performer of screen and stage, who made his name as the flamboyant Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show, has died aged 80. Reports said Curry died at his home in Los Angeles. Ironically, Curry’s best-known roles all required a considerable physical transformation, to the extent that he was unrecognisable in all of them. Frank-N-Furter, Rocky Horror’s deranged scientist, saw him daubed in garish makeup and wearing stockings and suspenders, for the stage show (which debuted in 1973) and the film adaptation (released in 1975). In the Ridley Scott-directed fantasy Legend (1985), he was equipped with giant horns and scarlet skin as the Lord of Darkness. And in 1990, Curry was transformed with full-face clown pancake to play Pennywise in the TV miniseries It, based on the Stephen King novel. Continue reading...
